I think I was about 12 when it was all the rage. I loved playing it and was fairly good for a kid. Original Genus Edition was the only one we had.

Now I have the Star Wars OT version and the LOTR movie trilogy edition. I'm the SW expert and my wife is the LOTR expert. Usually we each team up with a kid to make two teams. Often my 10-year-old daughter bails me out on questions like "how many Stormtroopers escorted Leia to Darth Vader aboard Tantive IV". And the other night my 7yo helped me out on more than a couple LOTR questions!

Just last week realized my good friend is a fan of old-school TP. I think he has Genus so we're gonna get together and play to match wits.

Does anyone have the SW "saga" DVD edition of TP? If so, can you play an OT only option, or are the OT & PT inextricably intermingled?

I got it last Xmas as a gift, but Ive never got round to playing it, but from the looks of the packaging and everything else the PT and the OT are seemingly intermingled.

I used to love Trival Pursuit I used to play it alot with friends when I was younger with both the original Genus Edition and the computer game version

It was only thru playing the Star Wars and LoTR versions that I discovered - to my horror - that the Trivia Pursuit researchers were sometimes dead wrong.

Kinda ruined it for me.

Do you have any examples? I am shocked and must experience this firsthand.

I have trivial pursuit (forget which edition, but its an older one), the anniversary edition (20th, I think) and Star Wars with DVD. To answer the question about is the OT and PT intertwined, the answer is yes. I suppose if you really wanted to, you could play OT only by skipping any questions dealing with the PT, but that would be harder still with the DVD, because you may not know if the question deals with the OT until its over. (such as 'guess who's voice' type questions). The anniversary edition is really hard, and we never play it as a result, and usually end up playing the older one we have.

My parents own a bunch of 20+ year old question sets. My brother technically owns a copy of the pre-PT Star Wars edition (which hasn't been played in years because, quite frankly, if I'm involved, the game is over in 2 turns) and about a year ago I bought the full Star Wars DVD edition.

Heh. I always taunt my wife saying the game will be over in one turn, but inevitably I get a question along the lines of "What actor played General Rieekan?"

And, sorry, no - I don't have any examples. The sets weren't mine. We played them while in line for various Star Wars and LotR movies, found examples of wrong information and researched them carefully to confirm. But I don't recall any specifics, sorry.

The ones that get me are like "How many stormtroopers...?"

But it's usually 2.

See my post above. That's where a ten-year-old kid that watches Star Wars once every two weeks (and has a near-photographic memory) comes in handy as a teammate!
