DVDs collecting dust isn't nearly as bad as VHS collecting dust. I'm kinda afraid to put my tapes back in the VCR.

But if it comes down to it, I guess I will have to. If for no other reason than to have them transferred to DVD-R for archiving's sake.

How did you get burned on Tron? Are there two versions available? I thought there was only one.

Tron was one of the first movies Disney released on DVD, in non-anamorphic widescreen with a Dolby Digital 4.1 audio track. There were murmurs for years about an SE, but nothing happened, so in the summer of 2001 I bit the bullet and purchased this version (~$25). Not 2 months later, Disney announces a new 20th anniversary edition: 2 discs, anamorphic WS, deleted scenes, trailers, all new doc. I was choked, but when it came out, the price was even lower (under $20) so I picked it up and gave my old one to a friend. I don't know if the old disc is still in print, but I doubt if it is.

Han Solo: I'm a nice man.

I thought the 20th anniversary was the only version that was ever out. Hmm..

Definitely a good movie though. Very ahead of its time.

It's one of those flicks that you wouldn't expect the story to hold any validity even a couple years after its release. But it does. Anybody ever see Disney's The Black Hole? I saw the ending again recently with Maximillian being the overseer of hell. Blew my mind.

to people who are looking for cheap DVDs....
check out Wal Mart's discount DVD section...

they have some very cheap classic titles... the SE of Total Recall $10, Mr. Destiny $8 and many more... i bought these two..
these are Canadian prices don't forget...

I also got burned on The Breakfast Club...
they're re releasing a SE in september....
don't really care that much though... cause its mostly just special features...

Yeah, I announced a couple of weeks ago that I found Tigerland at Wally World for US$5.88. One of the better DVD deals I've ever found. Oh, and for anyone thinking about purchasing Kurosawa's The Seven Samurai (Criterion), don't do it. Rumor is a new set will be available later this year or early next year also from Criterion.

I'm waiting for the price to come down on The Black Hole, since I know it will eventually; Anchor Bay always liquidates titles when their licence on them runs out; that's how I got Supergirl for under $10, as well as Condorman and Something Wicked This Way Comes.

Princess Leia: I happen to like nice men.
Han Solo: I'm a nice man.

What I remember of it wasn't bad. Anthony Perkins in a space adventure. Maximillian Schell was in it too as well as Robert Forster and Ernest Borgnine. For a Disney flick, it seemed pretty cool and edgy. Something you don't normally see in Disney fare. Once you see the ship and the droid, you may start to realize that you are at least familiar with the flick in some way, shape or form.

Here's the IMDb link to the movie.

Also the first Disney flick to get a PG rating. BTW, Pirates of the Caribbean will be the first Disney-branded flick to get a PG-13.

Keep in mind that I said the first Disney "branded" film. Disney, of course, also owns Touchstone, Miramax, and Hollywood Pictures (R.I.P.), all of which have released numerous PG-13 and R rated films, but POTK will be the first with a Disney logo at the beginning of the film.
