Haven't played video games in ages. Kind of lost interest after N64 came out. Lacked the charm of the old Super Nintendo games. I miss playing the old Donkey Kong Country and Super Mario World, along with the SNES video game adaptation of Batman Returns.

You enjoyed a Batman game?! Man, I love Batman - I even loved the Adam West series as a child - but I ain't NEVER loved a Batman videogame, including Batman Returns on the Megadrive. Is it the same game?
MTFBWY. Always.

Anyone play Dungeon Siege? I loaded it up yesterday for the first time in quite a while. Had it on before but never went far after the first set of crypts.

I don't know about the Megadrive Batman Returns, but the SNES Batman Returns is a Final Fight clone, a side scrolling beat-em-up. It was pretty good. The NES Batman game was pretty good, but not sure it aged well.

I never played Batman Returns... the SNES Batman Forever game sucked. I mean Superman 64-type sucked.

Batman Forever was horrible. It was an odd mix of sidescroller/fighting game that just didn't work. Batman Returns for the Lynx was also really bad, as was the NES version as well. Batman Returns for the SNES was good. Not incredibly great, but good, especially considering that yes, most Batman video games wern't very good.

Anybody played the PS2 Batman game 'Rise of Sin Tzu'?? I've heard varrying opinions on it; some said it was pretty good, others said it was mind-numbingly repetitive.

Got my Wii preordered and confirmed

Also, some news for Sony fans: Sony was able to close down several asiatic console websites that LEGALLY, I wanna repat that, legally, imported videogame products into south america and europe from asia, for cheaper prices. Sony bribed some lawyers and oficcials and managed to guarantee that we PAY the 1800 dollars the full PS3 is going to cost here. And no, I am not exagerating or kidding, thatS the official price here in Brazil.

It'll cost about R$3100.00, and according to Google: 3 100 Brazil reais = 1 449.47866 U.S. dollars

Let me remind you that half of it is taxes. Over here, videogames are the non-tobacco and non-alcohool items with highest taxes, because our government tries to control the defict of what comes in and gets out of the country. Sadly, the taxes are applied to videogames sold by brazillian stores regardless of where the videogame was produced, so it kills our videogame industry as well. When the politicians responsible for this ruling are asked, they claim not to know exactly what a videogame is.

Still, even considering the taxes, it's still quite expensive. So, what happens is, we tend to buy videogames from overseas, mostly america and asia, through the internet, a strategy that some people from europe also resort to. But that's what Sony is trying to fight. They are closing down Hong Kong websites that sold videogames cheaper all over the world LEGALLY so they can have more money into their pockets.

Er, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the Gran Turismo developer a Sony second party? Gran Turismo is definitely not coming to Wii.

The Wii will premier with the massive awesome-looking ExciteTruck, though.

Nope, no Gran Turismo on Wii. No racing game in which you have to PAY to get access to cars or tracks to even start playing.

Yeah. Racing is one of my least favorite genres, ESPECIALLY racing sims. But I still like nearly ever racing game Ninendo does. Mario Kart, F-Zero--it's all good. For this reason I'm anticipating Excite Truck. Those boost-jumps are totally psycho. Glorious.

So I take it nobody knows anything about preorders for Wii/PS3.

I've replied before my Sony post, saying that I was able to pre order Wii and have it confirmed. Over here, the first wave of pre order has sold out for Wii and for PS3 imports, the next wave of pre orders are for delivery on mid december.

I thought about ordering the Wii, but I'm thinking my kids will benefit more from language lessons if I can afford them. They can go another year with their GC and DS.

Learning before video games? Why?

LOL
Just kidding. Its always important for anyone to learn something, and a new language is great. Another benifit of waiting is that you can wait and see if the Wii bombs or is a big success. It stinks being the person who has the system that failed.

Lol, Nintendo bomb? I highly doubt that.
But learning a new language is way better though!

You never know. Nintendo has produced bombs before, such as the virtual boy. I don't think that the Wii will fail, but other systems with great promise and seemingly guaranteed success failed.

Wii won't bomb. The pre order numbers already make it a success.

And learning a new language is waaay better than spending time playing videogames. I can say that from my own experience, being able to fluently speak in english (and I speak better than I write) has opened several doors for me professionally speaking. Jedisage, may I ask what language are your kids going to learn?
