Surprisingly the only formating needed for the picture was the removal of black bars on each version. The pan and scan version was cleaned with removedust, and rendered as a continuous Huffy file after capture. After that the histograms were written `as is`. It should be noted, however, that great care was taken to get a capture of the Pan and Scan version with accurate colour representation, contrast and brightness. Colourlike matches the histograms between the two versions on a frame by frame basis, meaning that brightness and contrast are affected aswell as colour. Oh, and this operation was performed in rgb colour space, as experimentation showed this to give a better match than either YV12 or Polar YV12. In fact, polar YV12 seems to do nothing at all, and is a waste of an afternoon of histogram rendering. Also, once colourlike was invoked, black and white levels needed to be corrected once more (i`d like to take this opportunity to thank the X0 boys for their tutorial on this), otherwise i got a washed out look:

Washed Out Fleet

To be honest, i would`ve thought that the lost in the snow section would have benefited from readjusting the time compressed laserdisc version to match the SE more accurately, but it doesn`t. I am, however, currently making a new Pan And Scan version of the SE to write a new histogram and see if this helps, but to be honest that`s only because i have time on my hands. I`m not holding out much hope that it`ll work.
