adywan, depending on what you're using, when I was creating the avi's from the m2v files of the dvd for each shot of the film, i ran a filter called whitebalance which you use in virtualdub and set it to 235, 235, 235 for colour values. it does a good baseline job of getting a natural white which you can then use as a baseline reference to correct in vegas etc.
