The version that was called "remastered" (technically it was cleaned up a bit but not remastered) is inferior to the KCCI version, most noticeably in color, but also because it was edited to cover up missing or damaged footage at the beginning of the tape. Prior to the KCCI version's discovery it was the best quality version available.

I think calling it "remastered" was mostly wishful thinking on the part of the person(s) distributing it.
