Oh, that would have been worse. No such scene should ever have been shown. I still maintain that Vader never should have been revealed in the PT at all. A good writer could have told the story while leaving it appear as though Anakin has died. Vader should only ever be seen or referred to for the first time in ANH. It makes for a much more well-crafted story, and preserved the drama and surprises of the OT when viewed in order. Vader never should have been seen. It was just a cheap gimmick, and a poorly executed one, to hang a marketing campaign on.

This is so true, and Lucas always wants it both ways. He wants the saga now to be watched 1-6, but he wrote the PT with so many back handed references that would only work if you have actually seen 4-6 first!

Lucas says at the end of ROTS commentary, "I did not need to show all the stuff that ties to the OT at the end of the movie, including Luke & Leia being brought to their new homes, the death star being build, suited Vader rising, that is all exposition. But I knew alot of fans would have been real mad if that stuff was not in there."

Now I agree with Lucas cause I would have been mad too, but I am consistent that the saga should be watched 4-6 then 1-3. Lucas wrote the PT as a backstory to the OT with the viewer knowing the OT story, but wants the new viewer to watch the saga as a linear story 1-6 now?
