While we were making the DVD, MoveAlong and I discussed that the story isn't terribly cohesive by just watching the cinematic cut scenes. However, that was the goal of this release: to compile the cut scenes and as much bonus material as possible.

Much of the story of the game is also told during the actual gameplay and in-game animations. Including that stuff just opens a whole can of worms that we didn't want to tackle yet. In the Bounty Hunter game, the cut scenes are 16x9 anamorphic widescreen, the gameplay is 4x3 full screen, and the in-game animations are 4x3 letterboxed.

MoveAlong put a lot of work into making sure this DVD would look good to people who have both standard 4x3 TV's and 16x9 widescreen TV's. For instance, a game commercial on the DVD that is 4x3 full screen on a standard TV will appear with pillars on the sides when viewed on a 16x9 display so the image won't be distorted. As an owner of a 16x9 TV, this was really important to me. I was tired of seeing DVD's that were either letterboxed but not anamorphic, or had 4x3 bonus features that were all stretched and distorted on a 16x9 display.

Mixing this footage of various aspect ratios from the gameplay and cut scenes (and making it look good for folks with both 4x3 and 16x9 displays) would be an interesting project.....one we may want to tackle one day. In fact, check out the "DVD Credits" in the Special Features section of "Beyond The Game" for more on this.....
