Info: Has anyone done a preservation of misprinted Wal*Mart 'X-Men 3' bonus disc?

Is anyone planning on preserving the misprinted X-Men: The Last Stand Wal*Mart bonus disc? Some bonus discs accidentally featured a 68 minute documentary about the X-Men comics rather than the advertised docs. Supposedly, the comic documentary was prepared for the X-Men 2.5 release that never came to fruition.

Could this documentary legally be preserved since it’s not officially released by the studio?

I don’t want the official Wal*Mart bonus disc and since the disc mix-up is a random occurrence, just like the deleted scenes debacle, I couldn’t exactly return the DVD in question if I received what was actually advertised.

Yeah, I wouldn't mind taking a gander of this too. Hopefully someone that has this would be willing to do it.

the documentary about the X-men comics was released in France.

i'd like a preservation of both discs, actually.
I'm always looking to trade my edits, if you don't want to get them from a torrent. PM or e-mail!

I also got this comic-documentary instead of the advertised two features...

and frankly.... I'd like to get the advertised ones... how can I?

Is the comic documentary good? I'm fairly interested. It sounds much more fascinating than those Fox Movie Channel promos, though they have been surprisingly decent if I recall correctly from the ones included on the Mr. & Mrs. Smith & Fantastic Four DVDs.

Lord Phillock-

Here's all that I'm aware you can do. Would you be willing to preserve the comic documentary?

Apparently the studio is aware of the problem and a customer service hotline has been established. You will be required to give them your phone number and home address. You will also be asked to describe the nature of your problem (obviously only for those who have purchased DVDs from Wal-Mart). I have personally called and can verify this. At this time they are taking down records as a decision has not been reached regarding compensating customers.

NOTE: If you haven't saved your receipt from your purchase however, don't even bother calling.

As far as I've heard, the documentary is like the comic book doc on the Daredevil 2-disc edition. It's just interviews with creators from the beginning of the series to present. Supposedly this documentary starts with Stan Lee and works its way up to Miller's run on Ultimate X-Men and Morrison's run on New X-Men.

According to Digital Bits (and they are correct over there 99.9 percent of the time) the adverytising was just wrong and all the discs are the documentary. They simply misprinted it. Here is the whole passage from digital bits. It also includes some information about the deleted scenes controversy.

Finally today, a lot of you have been wondering what's up with Fox's X-Men: The Last Stand DVD. Some readers have reported that select copies of the DVD were released with 22 deleted scenes, while others have only 10. We've checked with our industry sources and have learned this is true. However, we've also learned that the number of discs that were released with the larger number of deleted scenes is very, very small - so little in fact that they all sold out early on the first day. We don't know why they were pulled, and speculation runs from a problem with clearance issues on the deleted material to the possibility of Fox releasing an even more elaborate special edition in 2007. Either way, there was no way to tell which disc you were getting based on the packaging. The main thing to know, is that if you've already purchased a copy and have been thinking of returning it hoping to get one of the copies with 22 deleted scenes, don't bother. Those discs are LONG gone at your local retailer. In fact, if you purchased your DVD on the first day but haven't opened it yet, that's your best bet short of eBay for getting the version with more deleted scenes. Also, as far as Wal-Mart's bonus disc - the packaging claims the bonus disc inside will include a pair of making-of featurettes, and then when you open it, you get a featurette on the history of the X-Men comic book. The packaging was simply mislabeled. You're getting exactly what you're supposed to be getting. We hope this information at least helps ease your minds a bit.

I don't trust this information, even though it's from thedigitalbits, which I agree is a trustworthy site. The fact that Fox has issued no official statement is troubling and they've been running overtime spinning all these errors to avoid blame. The site also claims that they don't know why certain deleted scenes were pulled and that it might be due to "clearance issues". Brett Ratner has told ign.com that a special edition is in the works and it is obvious the deleted scenes are being withheld as an incentive to buy the later edition. Every other country has a 2 disc release of this film with a plethora of bonus features.

I trust people who've purchased the DVD and posted on message boards stating they received various versions more than this statement. Once again, I agree that thedigitalbits.com is correct 99.9 percent of the time, but I'm leaning to this time being the .1 percent.

Does anyone even have the disc that's advertised on the case?

And how about someone with the 20something deleted scene disc ripping the scenes not included on the normal one and putting those in a torrent for the rest of us!

No, because the disc was mistakenly advertised. See my above post for more information. Basically, the disc everyone got is exactly what they were supposed to get. The information was wrong on the advertising.
