The Star Wars Trilogy: The Novel Adaptation by Ingo Sucks

I was just sitting down and thinking:

"" I would like to contribute something to the OOT community...

Yet it can't be a video because my computer does not cooperate with video files...

And it can't be audio, because there are isolated scores included with certain transfers that include almost all the soundtrack...

But no one ever mentioned writing...

I have a book containing all three original novelizations...

They're based on the OOT, and don't really fit George's current vision, so he probably won't mind...

I've already posted two passages from the novel on this forum, so...

Why not give it a try? ""

With the permission of OT.com, I would like to convert the entire original Star Wars novels onto this forum. I shall make a thread for each novel, and every post I make will be a chapter from the book. So you CANNOT post in those threads at all until I say you can, because if you do, it will screw up the reading experience. I shall type it word for word, including all the errors and typos.

This will be my contribution to the OOT scene. With your kind permission that is...

You can if you want to, I suppose, but overall I think it would be a bad idea.

My reasons:

1) That's a hell of a lot of work.

2) It's gonna take a hell of a long time to do.

3) I don't think many people will want to sit in front of their TV screens and read an entire novel. I've tried numerous times to read e-books on my PC, and I usually lose interest after a few minutes. There's just something about being able to hold it in your hands, ya know?

4) Aren't there copyright laws against doing that?

It doesn't take long to write novels. I just finished an 80 page novel, and it only took me....well, it took me four months, but it IS an extremely complex story about time travel and theories about it. But I've written other novels that only took two weeks. And if it's a story you know well, then all the faster.

But I agree with Nanner Split. I can't read books on the computer. It feels...weird. I like holding a book in my hands. Just recently I tried downloading some manga and reading it, because they only release a volume every two months in the states, but I couldn't read it. Just too hard to read on the computer. Movies and music all may become part of the computer, but books never will.

That's a nice thought, Ingo Sucks, but you'd probably get nailed for copyright infringement.

Also, those novelizations are very common and they've never been altered, unlike the movies.

I'm pretty sure it's already been done, and the results can be found on P2P networks.

Ingo's not talking about writing the novels, he just wants to transcribe them.

Darth_Evil, you write novels? Published?

Not widely published (you can't go out too a bookstore and buy them) but I get copies out to lots of friends and family. The series of novels I'm writing right now is called "Time Trek," but isn't as cheesy as it sounds. It's a bit like Back to the Future; younger person and older scientist who have adventures with time travel. But Time Trek doesn't really deal with Time Travel as much as the theories of it, many of them my own and many quite complex. Book one is called "The History of the World," though the title is a complete misnomer. It's about 50 pages, so I guess you'd call it a novella. Book Two, titled "The Reverse Effect," happens in reverse order, starting with the last 24 hours, and backtracking to the first. "Reverse" is also very different from the first, in that it is a high octane thriller that mixes action with more complex theories told through three page conversations that are pretty darn confusing. It's about 80 pages long. My whole approach to the series is to give the readers a good mental work out, which I sincerely hope I'm doing. I'm currently working on the third book in the series. If anyone would like to read them, I'll post them Chapter by Chapter in the off-topic spot, and you can print them out and read them or just read them on the computer.

MeBeJedi just sent me a PM saying he attained the transcribed novels from a defunct Japanese website, so I can put this thread to rest.

Darth_Evil - sure, I'd like to read your novels, and I'll bet others would too.

Sound good. I'll try posting them in the off topic forum in the next few days.

Sorry but what's the point of this? It's not like the novels are OOP or anything and they are already on a lot of Torrent sites. It's also just not fun to read these novels hunched over on your computer screen.

Not really related to the topic, but I am suprised that they didn't make SE versions of the novels, having Greedo shoot first and stuff like that. I know the re-released the novels at the '97 SE, and you can get them new at your local bookstore now, but they didn't SE them or correct inconsistencies in them like they did the OOT.
