(Rebel Assault II)
I did a search to see if this was mentioned it wasn't(Well it did get mentioned in this thread but no cutscenes were posted.....).

I rented this game a long time ago. I found a video of most of the Full motion videos on youtube. Here. It's interesting in the beggining crawl it's listed as "Episode II".

(Jedi Knight)
I've also found some Jedi Knight cutscenes. Now I have absolutely no clue on what order these should be posted so, I'll do my best.... Plus, I have no clue whether or, not all the cutscenes I found are all the cutscene's in the game....

Played it briefly. The first one as well. The gameplay never appealed to me all that much.

No doubt Episode II in the game series.

I've still got my copy of the first Rebel Assault. I can't play it because my computer is too new, but I held on to it anyways.

Back when "Rebel Assault 2" came out I was so thrilled, because the game boasted with having "the first full motion Star Wars material shot since the movies", and I played the game like crazy since it looked really good, and especially in combination with John Williams' score this game really felt like "Star Wars". It was a lot easier to beat though then the first game, since aiming and shooting was as easy as "point and click", so no choppy mouse support as in the first game.

Today games like the "Rogue Squadron" series transported the "Rebel Assault" principles into realtime graphics, which of course is much more exciting than the pre-rendered flight paths of RA. Yet I still think both "Rebel Assault"-games were ground breaking... the first one of course a lot more then II.

I have that game, and it's horrible. It's like some sort of lame Flash shooter that you might find on AddictingGames.com, but with slightly better graphics. There's no challenge (simply aim and shoot), a weak storyline (come on, TIE Ghost fighters that are built on one ship, are all blown up at the end, and are never mentioned again in the expanded universe?), and horrible levels (yes, let's send waves of TIE fighters at your B-wing that take ten seconds to reach you, multiple corridor levels and a speeder bike level where you can't even tell where the heck you're going), not to mention it has one of the gayest ways to beat a final level in recent memory (a Star Destroyer version of the final level in Super Mario Bros., complete with repeating sections, then once you've done all that, you have to fly along a tunnel, you can barely move, numerous guns are shooting at you, then you have to destory a little panel and direct your mouse to a certain area, or you will get blown up and have to repeat the level again).

No thanks.

Are there any other SW games that contain full motion video footage of scenes that are not in any Star Wars movie?

I know of:

I was just playing RA II the other day.

LOL. That was one of my first exposures to the Star Wars universe. That, and watching my older brothers play TIE FIGHTER when I was younger.

Don't forget Jedi Knight. That game has full motion video. It looked like a fan film, but the characters were interesting.

Yeah, the filming and acting in Jedi Knight was really bad. I really liked RA II back when it first came out. crazyrabbits compared it to lame flash games, but back when it came out there were no lame flash games. It was back in the days of win 95 and dos. And it usually took some good reflexes. My favorite part of it was that there was a code you could enter, and it would give the game the Mystery Science Theater 3000 treatment. You could see the siloute of a row of movie seats at the bottom of the scene with darth vader, threepio, and artoo, then there would be MST3Kish jokes that would appear on the screen in subtitles. I wish LucasArts would still make games like they used to. They used to have some really good ones, Star Wars and otherwise. Now it is only Star Wars games. I heard they have had some good ones lately, but they are all basically mods of pre-existing games like Battlefront.

I really enjoyed this game back when it first came out for PC. As far as full motion rail shooters go, I thought they did the best they could. Unlike most other FMV shooters, they actually used video that was larger than the monitor, so that they could pan left, right and up and down a bit so you sort of felt more control than you would otherwise.

I think that was the first game that used Scott Lawrence as the voice of Darth Vader, which I still think is the closest they ever got to James Earl Jones without actually using James Earl Jones.

The cutscenes were much better looking than the first game, and I ejoyed the cheesey humor.

I read about that code a month after returning the game ironically.

crazyrabbits: I don't delve into EU much beyond the games..... So I had no clue they weren't ever mentioned again.

Well, as far as I remember, it was never mentioned again after that game. Wikipedia gives a reference to Darth Maul using a "Stygian cloaking device" on his Sith Infiltrator, but apparently that went over my head, because I doubt 90% of the population would even make the connection between those two things.

Keep in mind that this game was also released during the Playstation's heyday. The version I saw on that video featured gameplay from the PSX version. The PC version looks slightly crappier, at least to my eyes anyway. I quite liked Jedi Knight, though. At least when the actors did their thing, it looked like they were actually putting in effort, other than just standing around in front of a green screen looking bored.

I prefer Rebel Assault.

Out of curiosity I searched for some Jedi Knight cutscenes and, posted them in the first post. I never played the game though so hopefully I got the order right.....

I loved the first Dark Forces and I could still play it today and find it very enjoyable, but Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight, while it was cool when it first came out, it sure didn't age well. Those blocky 3D models just look terrible. The acting bothered me a lot too, it was just too awful, I never beat the game all the way through. I liked how Jedi Knight II started off with a few levels without any force powers at all, I never liked the jedi part much, I really like the mercenary for hire bits. It is cool wondering around some streets in the underworld of a big city in the star wars universe, hunting down thugs.

These cutscenes really bring back memories of Jedi Knight. I loved that game, I played it for years with the JKEdit custom level editor to make my own SW adventures and downloaded existing JK mods. These expanded the game's longevity as they seamlessly integrated into the game. The ESB carbon freezing chamber level was my favorite addon level. It really captured the look and feel of the saber duel from ESB. I just didn't like the idea of Vader using Force Lightning.

I never played Rebel Assault or RAII.

I would be interested in this as well. And what would be really awesome would be to see a SE of this with more contemporary CGI graphics. How sweet would that be?

Man, it seems Lucas wasn't only scamming us with the trilogy. I picked up "Star Wars: Dark Forces Part II - Jeni Knight: Special Edition, and it was only a 3-level demmo of the game! Lucasfilm doesn't only not know what restoration means, they have no clue what a special edition is either.

How true it is. My aunt gave me a copy of the "Lucasarts Archives" for Christmas a few years ago. I had never seen one of the sets before, which claimed to be 1 of 4 packages with 6 Lucasarts games on them. As it turns out, half of them were demos. The only real games I got were X-Wing and Tie Fighter (and Star Wars Yoda Stories, if that can even be called a game; more like a non-stop mini-game with no end), and demos of Jedi Knight II, X-Wing Vs. Tie Fighter and Jedi Knight: Mysteries Of The Sith. And these things cost $45.00 when they came out? Madness!

Does anyone know of a way to extract the sprites or videos from Rebel Assault files? I don't mean recording with a screen recorder or dosbox or taking screenshots but having access to the actual files. In other words, is there an extractor for SAN files? I couldn't get "Watto Studios" extractor to do it.
