Does anyone here watch Family Guy? They do a ton of SW spoofs!

I've gotten into that show over the past year and have caught up watching the DVD's. They've had some fabulous SW references including:

-When Cleveland was mad at his wife for cheating on him, the Emperor comes up and goes "good, let the hate flow through you."
-Peter Griffin flashes back to the time he was conducting the Sandpeople Choir, but then after a few notes, they run off. Obiwan comes on and reashures him by saying, "they'll soon be back and it greater numbers."
-After saving a man from a burning building, Peter gets a ceremony, which mimics the one from the end of SW. Chewie and the droids are in attendence and the actual music from the film plays.
-Peter Griffin flashes back to the time he saved Luke Skywalker. They show Han Solo cut open his belly on Hoth. His guts come out and Peter says, "oh don't worry, it's only fat."
-on last week's show they did a whole bit on Darth Vader. They even showed him taking a shower with his helmet and mask on.
George Lucas was seduced by the dark side. The OOT ceased to exist in his mind and became the Special Editions...." "They're more maching now than movies. Twisted and evil."

They spoof just about everything from what I've seen.

Great show.

There's also the time when Meg wants laser eye surgery, and they cut to Luke using the force to perform lightsaber surgery. He ends up killing the patient by plunging the lightsaber all the way through her head.

if your looking for a funny show with tons of SW references, you should watch "Spaced".

(they watch "Jedi" with the original ending, hate TPM, and bash Lucas)

selected bits:

Bilbo Bagshot: What about the Ewoks eh? They were rubbish. You don't complain about them.
Tim: Yeah but Jar Jar makes the Ewoks look like... fuckin'... Shaft.

Daisy: So how are you, you big bloody man?
Tim: I'm good, I'm good. Just, had a few things to sort out.
Daisy: With Sarah?
Tim: No, with George Lucas.
Daisy: Tim, it's been over a year.
Tim: It's been 18 months, Daisy. And it still hurts.
Daisy: Well, I didn't think The Phantom Menace was *that* bad.

[to a Star Wars: The Phantom Menace fan]
Tim Bisley: You are so blind! You so do not understand! You weren't there at the beginning. You don't know how good it was! How important! This is it for you! This jumped-up firework display of a toy advert! People like you make me sick! What's wrong with you? Now, I don't care if you've saved up all your fifty 'p's, take your pocket money and get out!
[the little boy runs off, crying]
Tim Bisley: What a prick.

Tim: Brian, did you notice that everything that transpired in those three films - and I *mean* everything - can be attributed to the actions of one very *minor* character?
Brian: Who?
Tim: The gunner on the Star Destroyer at the beginning of the first film.
Brian: How come?
Tim: [know-it-all] Well. Hmmhmmhmm. Because, if the gunner *had* shot the pod that C-3P0 and R2 were in, they wouldn't have got to Tatooine, they wouldn't have met Luke, Luke wouldn't have met Ben, they wouldn't have met Han and Chewie, they wouldn't have rescued Princess Leia. *None* of it would have happened.

There's also the scene when Peter is a news host of "What Grinds My Gears" or something like that. And he says, "You know what really grinds my gears? When I can't find the driods I'm looking for!" And then it cuts to two stormtroopers watching TV with TV trays and one says "Yeah I hate that!" Or something to that effect.

I have seen every family guy episode, but apparently I have missed that one! Holy cow!

Another great scene is from the episode where Peter publishes his Peterotica books, and a summons is brought to Mr. Puetershmidtt and he drops the lawyer in the the Rancor Pit. The lawyer excapes in the exact sam way that Luke does.

There used to be a Star Wars reference thread but I can't find it so I'll post here: a few nights ago I was watching Coccon and when the aliens leave earth Steve Guttenburg's character says 'May The Force Be With You'.

I love the one where for whatever reason he's naming off his kids and he goes, "Stewie.......Chris................................and Boba Fett?" They hate Meg so much in recent seasons.

In one episode when a bird nests in Peter's beard didn't he imagine one of the hatchlings with a Boba Fett helmet?

There was one episode where Peter starts doing something really bad (it's been a while), and Brian confronts Peter with his Lando Calrissian collector's glass, comparing him to when Lando lost his way in Empire.

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

I like Family Guy and appreciate all the references, but the show seems very random - it seems that merely including a pop reference is considered to be funny and clever. In the heyday of the Simpsons, movie references were well-thought-out and really made me laugh, but now with shows like family guy it's just 'hey, there's Boba Fett, hahaha'.

Ha! That part with Brian and the glass is just awesome. The episode is Peter, Peter, Caviar Eater in season 2.

In the episode Let's Go to the Hop, Peter goes undercover at the highschool during the toad licking fad, and calls himself Lando Griffin.

I can sort of agree with you there, perhaps. The show is very random. But I would say that randomness can be very funny. It's unexpected and wrong in its own ways. I often find that I laugh far more over an episode of Family Guy after I've watched it than during. Sometimes the jokes are just hard to absorb at the very moment you see them.

I totally agree, but it seems they're doing random for ramdom's sake in newer seasons because that's what they're known for doing. I don't see a lot of good stories out of the show lately. Unrelated to SW, my favorite random scene is when Peter says he helps Lois and it cuts to a scene of him doing laundry and missing a sock. He goes in the dryer and Mr. Tumbnus (sp) is like: "hello and welcome to Narnia". My friend and I totally lost it and laughed for a good 5 minutes.

Damnit, you beat me to it! I love that episode.

And, yeah, there is a lot of randomness. It seems like it's been beefed up a lot since it was restarted. Before, the randomness was minor compared to the plot. Now it seems like almost every other line is, "This is just like the time that I..."
