Um, no, they're not. The fullscreen version actually shows more in this case. Usually, though, you'll want to go with the widescreen. Some mistakes have arisen from watching open matte movies in fullscreen. Directors won't notice that things get in the edges of the frame that they don't intend to get in there, such as boom mikes. As for BTTF, there are no such troubles, so it's really up to you.
