The main reason for me to have them on DVD (and I do know what anamorphic does, I just dont care and never have), is because I want to watch everything on the same format. VHS can wear out, DVDs cant. You can skip to any scene on DVD, and the picture quality is usually better than VHS. I have never had a desire to own a laserdisc player, though I do own a few discs for some reason. All I am saying is that I am happy now. I like the SEs, but I just wanted to have both versions on DVD. All we need now is the 1997 SEs and all of the unreleased extras. All done.
