I took a capture from the laserdiscs and was able to do manual deinterlacing (the cadence only changed three or four times) and was able to do it perfectely for all three movies. If I can (a bozo with a PC and avsynth) what's LFL's excuse?
These do look better than any laserdisc transfer I've seen, but then again they DO have a lot of deinterlacing errors. And frankly it wouldn't have killed Lucas to have someone resize these things for anamorphic DVD up front!
I'd almost preferred that they have left it alone (interlaced) and we could have recovered 24fps ourselves.
