I agree with the guy to a point. Heheh, I even refused to buy Revenge of the Sith on DVD after buying every freaking other Star Wars anything ever released on VHS, Laserdisc or DVD up till then.
And I despise George Lucas no end. But I won't cut off my lightsaber to spite my face, or however the phrase should be transfigured.
A sort-of, quasi re-creation of 1977 Star Wars on DVD?!? Not exactly the precise time to stop being a Star Wars fan. Wait another week, ok?
As I posted in another thread some long time ago, my Star Wars fandom is not affected by anything George does or doesn't do. My love of the original trilogy, all the fun I had seeing each of the films in theaters when they came out, the fun I had playing with toys and building models with friends, the fun I had collecting some stuff here and there, the outrageous fun I had waiting in line for the Hollywood premiers of the O.T. films and the prequel films, and all the friends I've made thru Star Wars and shared Star Wars geekdom fun with .... George cannot put a dent in any of it.
And there are two tattoos on my body that proclaim it to the world: I am a Star Wars Fan till death take me.

Gomer, what the fuck are you doing on these boards? Take your bullshit back to TF.n.
I was about to say the same thing.

Go-Mer, keep in mind that this place is nothing like TFN. We don't embrace the PT or the SE here for the most part, and you may find that I get sick of people and start deleting posts instead of editing in witty parental phrases with pretty colors. Try to be constructive in your posts, and that really goes for everyone.

He makes some good points Though. And besides the whole world is about money. So can you blame Lucas.
Ha, I'm sitting here laughing at the computer screen almost as loud as I was when I first saw the shit-ass Jabba the Hutt CGI in the Star Wars SE. I still cannot get over Han stepping on his tale. Oh, shit I just vomited on my keyboard thinking about it.
British people are cool.

Why do you think it is crap, precisely?

I agree! Only the prequels are worth watching, they are probably the best movies made in the last 50 years. I watch Episode 3 with my parents every few months because it is politically intriguing yet at the same time intensely romantic. "Anakin you're breaking my heart!" <-- that gets me every time. Your parents and my parents should get together and host a pod racing party for us.
Padme is sooooo awesome and her large hats and makeup are also top-notch! Yoda looked incredible because he was made by a computer, and did you see him flip around with his lil' green saber? It was cah-razy with a capital C! Jar Jar is HI-larious and was a very nice touch. Sam Jackson has a purple lightsaber, am I right? I'm right. Hayden Chistansen's acting in all 3 movies was consistently brilliant and I don't see how the scripts could've been any better. I can't believe he killed the Younglings though! Nooooo not the Younglings! All in all I give the prequels an Infinity squared / 10.

Some of us like the new ones as much as the old ones, and still wanted to have the originals on DVD for posterity.
Feel free to hate me if that's the sort of thing you guys revel in, but I don't see why there can't be a less hateful voice among the torch and picth-fork carrying types.
I don't think the original trilogy was crap. I was just saying my parents thought it was crap and yet they let me make up my own mind about them.
I can see not liking the prequels, but to actually keep your kids from seeing them until they are past childhood, just because you are afraid they might like them if they aren't old enough, well why don't you cancel Christmas while you're at it?
As far as going back to TFN, I can't I was banned for a lenghty duration for saying that this is the best the O-OT has ever looked on home video to date.
I guess they aren't interested in heated debate, and they will just ban people until the forum resembles a sedate nursing home.
All I want to know is why some of you hate with such eagerness? Do you think hate is a good thing to revel in? What good will it do you in the end?

I don't hate Lucas. I've never met him. I don't have kids. If you like the SEs, more power to you. All that I want is a high quality version of the OOT on DVD, and I don't have it yet. That's all. There's not grand plan. I certainly don't think that a set of DVDs is worth hating a human being over. Do I think that Lucas is a jerk to his fans? Sure. But I've got nothing against the man. I wish him a long, happy, healthy life.
