>>>1) Any time a scene has been re-encoded to cut out any SE stuff, the framerate really suffers, and it becomes jerky and quite annoying (also true of SW:CE, but not very noticeable there).

Kind of annoying, yeah. I didn't really think about this much until it was too late. The scenes were edited in 24p, but Final Cut Pro doesn't export M2V files as 24p, only as 30p. So they just add extra frames, and the motion isn't quite right.

If I did it knowing what I know now, I would export the files from Final Cut Pro as Quicktime PhotoJPEG, 24p, and then encode the M2V files in some other program, perhaps FFmpegX.

ALL of SWCE has an odd frame rate, but since the whole thing's like that you don't notice.

For my edit of Thief and the Cobbler, I intend to fix this problem. =)

I didn't think about the Star Wars either. Not one of those things I'd really noticed. Well, consider it one of those little changes that sets this edit apart.

I did the sabers the way I like 'em. Your mileage may vary.

I just got downloaded this. Impressive. Its all very very good. I wouldnt be posting on the internet if i didnt bitch a liitle though. The LD scenes are pretty easy to spot. Not because they are poor quality, but because the rest of the movie looks so amazing. Its not distracting, but you can spot the change in quality.

1. The opening 2 shots of the star destroyer. Very "digital" looking and pixellated. The opening text crawl and these two shots were enough to make me give up right away. As soon as it cuts to the probe droid speeding towards hoth, its back to perfection.

2. The crew of the Falcon walking with Lando into cloud city for the first time. The falcon and background are pefectlu still while the rest of the shot is bouncing around.

3. Chapter 37 is about 8 seconds long.

I noticed that too - I thought that was funny though, so I can't knock you for that.

Holy crap man...
The Jittering is notciable allright...
Im getting what can only be called motion sickness sitting in the chair...
Was it always this jittery?
Hmmm I had a few other people watch (didnt tell any of them ahead of time about ym fear of the jittering) and they all complained that it looked jittery...
Im playing it directly from my Hard Drive using windows media player...
9 or tenth edition I believe...
Could this be the cause of the jitters? Please help would be very much appreciated...
Seriously I had planned on burning these to a DVD and giving them to my brother for his wedding.
A true Hierloom I thought...
The star wars he could show his kids and not be emberassed about.
So please you are helping a good cause by responding...
Take pity on this poor soul.
P.S. I used the torrent from my spleen.

I've noticed the "Jerkyness" as well, but it's only noticable when you have motion shots Like panning or ships sailing by. and since most of those are left intact on the offical DVDs, that's not a problem. it's also not noticable with dialogue and character's mouths moving. I'm certainly not complaining!
Loved the Ian Mcdarmid voice over option. these discs shoot down any excuse George Lucas can cough up such as the original versions costing "millians to refurbish"

there should be no jerkiness. Burn the thing.

Or like I have (jokingly) said in the past....wait until the Star Wars: Classic Edition - SPECIAL EDITION is released

There is jerkiness in Star Wars. There is no jerkiness in Empire or Jedi. If you're complaining about Star Wars, complain in the Star Wars thread, otherwise you're confusing me.

Hahaha---Saw it, and I have to say faantastic.
BTW, has ocp been banned or something? What is that thing by his icon?
Author

He has been banned. It wasn't so much for what he said, but how he went about saying it.

MeBeJedi: Sadly, I believe the prequels are beyond repair.
JediRandy: They’re certainly beyond any repair you’re capable of making.

MeBeJedi: You aren’t one of us.
Go-Mer-Tonic: I can’t say I find that very disappointing.

JediRandy: I won’t suck as much as a fan edit.

That's completely untrue - ROTJ and ESB were *worse* than SW was as far as jerkiness, in my opinion.

He has been TEMPORARILY banned. (Right??) I'm looking forward to ocpmovie's return. There is no arguing that he has long been a real asset to this forum. Not too sure how or why things got out of hand earlier this week, but I think we're all hoping for a return to form all 'round, early next week.

I think antagonising just about everyone on this BB got him banned

I know that's why; what I don't understand (with the benefit of 20/20 hindsight) is how or why it all blew up like it did. I'll admit I was "antagonized" at the outset, but now I'm wondering just what the big deal was. The new DVDs are coming -- yay! The X0 Project is continuing -- yay! OCPMovie's stuff is still available -- yay! And hopefully ol' ocpmovie himself will be back soon -- yay!

I second those yays.

We'll probably lift the ban at some point, but after some of his comments via e-mail and on other boards, he might decide not to come back anyway.

I don't quite follow all that happened, but I recall that you said earlier that the ban was one week. Is it indefinite now? I'll miss him around the SW forums, but those relying on him for The Thief and the Cobbler would really miss out if he couldn't come back.

My understanding is that his Thief project is complete.

I'll probably lift the ban this weekend.

I am currently getting all of the classic edition torrents off of myspleen. There is one seeder feeding me at a moment for episode IV which should be done in a day if the speed holds up, hopefully they stick around until its done. Episodes V and VI are having trouble. If anybody has a copy of these would they mind helping out? I plan to seed all 3 of them for a while once they are done.

p.s. I hope nobody minds me posting this in all 3 threads, just getting exposure to see if a few more seeds can crop up to help eps V and VI finish.

So I left this forum a while back and it's hard for me to read and participate in Star Wars fandom these days. There's no respect for the fans who have given so much respect to the franchise.

Anyway.

I thought I'd post today just for novelty's sake, being that it's September 12th and all. Day after September 11th, and not much fun on either day.

Incidentally I'm no immediate relation to Todd Gilchrist who's been writing Star Wars articles for IGN ... that I'm aware of.

This is why I'm posting.

All the torrents for the Classic Editions have been pulled from Myspleen by the management. Presumably because of Lucasfilm's release.

Very sad.

I intended the Classic Editions to be the best original Star Wars DVDs you could get, with the best picture quality and the best features ...... and I still think they are that, particularly Empire and Jedi, where I had improved the technical process greatly.

You can still get them from me by writing *****.

For the moment the Star Wars torrent still seems to be working. Deleted Magic is also still working, as are Return of the Ewok and Special Edition Hype.

I would really appreciate it if someone would put the Classic Edition edition DVDs onto Demonoid.com.

My Thief and the Cobbler Recobbled Cut DVD is there, and I also put my Doctor Who Ten Doctors Mini-DVD there. I would like to continue the trend of seeding at Demonoid.

My best wishes to you and yours during a weak time for Star Wars fandom.

Bye again.

Just letting you know, ocpmovie, I put the Classic edition torrents down from myspleen.
It was my written statement in all my torrents' nfo that I will not distribute oficialy released matterial.
As I want to be true to my word, that's what I did.
I did not take down any other releases of yours that I had posted, as they did not contain a movie officialy released.
On the other hand other releses from people in this forum that I had also uploaded were removed as well.
I am sorry if that makes you sad, but I concider it as an obligation to myspleen not to jeopardize the well beiing of the site by leaving torrents on, which might cause them legal issues.
I am gratefull for your wonderfull releases and want to thank you personally for giving your time and effort to them.
I want to believe that i did averything in my power so as many peole as possible could get them with no cost whatsoever.
I hope you can understand my decision.
Thank you once again.
And now, for your feature presentation:
The Classic Re-re-re-release of Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back.
In this version the word "WOOKIE" has been changed to "HAIR CHALLENGED ANIMAL" and the entire cast has been digitally replaced by Ewoks.

Which Classic ESB would you like to see put ?

The one segaflip posted to alt.binaries.starwars ?
The one MoveAlong posted to alt.binaries.starwars ?
The one Metallaxis seeded @myspleen ?

They're all different.

I think tygerbug@demonoid should make the .torrent file himself.
Others could help seed it, but they wouldn't have to guess which (if any) of those versions represents your "original vision"

However, in practice you must take into account the “fuckwit factor”. Just talk to Darth Mallwalker…

There were no significant differences between any of these. I think an early version was posted in binaries by mistake at one point but that wasn't my doing.

Given the choice I'd go with the one posted at Myspleen.

Allright I got my copies today, so if anyone wants these on torrent let me know what site and I will get them up.
