I have to agree with Randy I can imagine those and other scenes would look pretty good in 3-D, will I go? it depends if on at a local cinema I will probably go one evening with the wife and it doesnt cost the earth to go in just because its been made into 3-D....
I'd watch the Prequels in 3-D. But the Pixar movies would be more fun for me to watch in 3-D. They probably still have all the 3-D models, animations, etc and could create a real 3-D experience. For Bugs Life, they created a full frame version by rendering the top and bottom that didn't exist in the theatrical version.
Old news. And, perversely, the first thing from Lucasfilm since 1999 that has excited me (just a little). Movie theaters need some kind of value-added proposition to compete with home theaters, and maybe 3D can be it. I didn't know that, but I did read that they also re-created some scenes completely to take better advantage of the full frame.
Back to the topic - I have a real love/hate relationship with 3D. The trouble is, it's not 3D. It's pseudo-3D as long as you keep your head perfectly still, and as long as you can stand the headaches, which for me is about 5 minutes.
If you insist on pushing the technological envelope of digital cinema, MAKE A D*MN NEW MOVIE TO SCREW WITH!! Please stop re-inventing the classic trilogy.

Ya, I know what you're saying. I watched some LooneyToons Marvin the Martian movie in 3D on an IMAX screen at the amusement park this weekend. The glasses were thin plastic, low quality stuff. And the screen was basically a double-image thing that the glasses corrected as if you were looking at a MagicEye picture crosseyed. The actual "plastic lenses" that you look thru didn't seem that remarkable at all, they just looked like clear plastic lenses. I'm sure it has something to do with vertical vs. horizontal filament and the way that an image is interpreted when seeing both at the same time.
In the end, yeah, you get a headache and you feel like you've been crosseyed the entire time. Might as well bang your forehead into a wall for 2 hours, it'd give the same "special effects."
I'm really hoping that this 3D thing won't be anything like what I just experienced on Saturday. I really, really, really hope.
As I've said before, if there is no remastered OOT, the my answer is, "that's nice." The OOT is more than good enough to speak for itself. If you milk the cash cow too much it may run dry.
