I had considered the objection about the tractor beam before I posted here. My reasoning for Liuke's question had two possible answers. One, he's just a farm boy and wouldn't know much about what a tractor beam would look like. Or, the tractor beam does look different than the one earlier. If you go with the first explanation, then they two beams could be the same. If you go with the second, I thought that the DS tractor beam could actually envelop the Falcon. Meaning that the ship is surrounded by a small glow as it is being pulled toward the station. In this way, you wouldn't really notice the small glow through the cockpit, but you would see it in the wide shot. In either case, Han's reply can just be seen as him explaining what the deal is to Luke who either doesn't know what the beam is or who can't see what is happening to the ship.
