I am currently getting all of the classic edition torrents off of myspleen. There is one seeder feeding me at a moment for episode IV which should be done in a day if the speed holds up, hopefully they stick around until its done. Episodes V and VI are having trouble. If anybody has a copy of these would they mind helping out? I plan to seed all 3 of them for a while once they are done.
p.s. I hope nobody minds me posting this in all 3 threads, just getting exposure to see if a few more seeds can crop up to help eps V and VI finish.
So I left this forum a while back for several reasons but mainly because I couldn't stand Star Wars fandom anymore - for me it's turned into the cultural equivalent of being a Jew posting happily on message boards about Hitler. There's no respect for the fans who have given so much respect to the franchise.
Anyway.
I thought I'd post today just for novelty's sake, being that it's September 12th and all. Day after September 11th, and not much fun on either day.
Incidentally I'm no immediate relation to Todd Gilchrist who's been writing Star Wars articles for IGN ... that I'm aware of.
This is why I'm posting.
All the torrents for the Classic Editions have been pulled from Myspleen by the management. Presumably because of Lucasfilm's release.
Very sad.
I intended the Classic Editions to be the best original Star Wars DVDs you could get, with the best picture quality and the best features ...... and I still think they are that, particularly Empire and Jedi, where I had improved the technical process greatly.
You can still get them from me by writing *****.
For the moment the Star Wars torrent still seems to be working. Deleted Magic is also still working, as are Return of the Ewok and Special Edition Hype.
I would really appreciate it if someone would put the Classic Edition edition DVDs onto Demonoid.com.
My Thief and the Cobbler Recobbled Cut DVD is there, and I also put my Doctor Who Ten Doctors Mini-DVD there. I would like to continue the trend of seeding at Demonoid.
My best wishes to you and yours during a dark time for Star Wars fandom.
Just letting you know, ocpmovie, I put the Classic edition torrents down from myspleen. It was my written statement in all my torrents' nfo that I will not distribute oficialy released matterial. As I want to be true to my word, that's what I did. I did not take down any other releases of yours that I had posted, as they did not contain a movie officialy released. On the other hand other releses from people in this forum that I had also uploaded were removed as well. I am sorry if that makes you sad, but I concider it as an obligation to myspleen not to jeopardize the well beiing of the site by leaving torrents on, which might cause them legal issues. I am gratefull for your wonderfull releases and want to thank you personally for giving your time and effort to them. I want to believe that i did averything in my power so as many peole as possible could get them with no cost whatsoever. I hope you can understand my decision. Thank you once again.
And now, for your feature presentation: The Classic Re-re-re-release of Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back. In this version the word "WOOKIE" has been changed to "HAIR CHALLENGED ANIMAL" and the entire cast has been digitally replaced by Ewoks.
I'll do it! I've still got it on my HD! Someone else will have to do it for the other ones, though, because I haven't got them. I'm currently downloading the Reinventing The Wheel ESB from there, though. It's going really fast. I can't wait to see it again! It's my favourite and it's been 7+ years since I've seen it.
It's actually very good, although not perfect DVD quality, it comes pretty darn close. I watched it last night on my crappy LCD laptop screen. The sound is also pretty good (I was using headphones, though) and it had lots of details I missed. It was weird seeing the Original version because I've only seen it maybe one time (when I was extremely small), my childhood was really with rthe 97 Special Editions.
On that note, I'm heavily considering doing my own set (*gasp*) to recreate the 97 SE (except for the bits that mess with characters and drama), as that's from my childhood. I still have my dusty ol Pan and Scan (eww) VHS set of it, too. I have to do some reading about DD 5.1 and learn how it works first, plus read about some things, collect a list of sources (there's no need to recolour sabers; I'll use what others have done if they'll let me).
I figure it's worth it since no one has done much with the 97 SEs and I'd love to see the version from my childhood in glorious 5.1, anamorphic, DVD quality. From what I've read, the 2004 DVDs are just edited to fit the prequels, which I didn't even really like. Alas, though, I'll have to pick up a copy because it's required source material.
I love messing around with video so this ought to be a learning experience... and fun! *runs off to read stuff*
I know Myspleen has fan edits, etc. of commercially available stuff. I dont see where this is any different.
You could just find someone else on Myspleen with uploader status to re-upload the torrents.
I'm sure if you mention it on the forums there you could find someone. The fact that these collectively have been downloaded hundreds (thousands?) of times...you cant say there isnt a demand for this.
It's a shame that they got taken down. But I can see the position they are in too.
OCP, I truly have to thank you not only for the Classic Editons which I think are great, but for Deleted Magic which I take every opportunity to share with my friends who wants one.
There's good in the Original Trilogy, and it's worth fighting for. "People should not be afraid of their governments. Governments should be afraid of their people." http://www.myspace.com/harlock415
About 2 weeks ago I run into this forum while I was searching the web for a Star Wars Laserdisk transfer. I was unaware of all of the work that had been done by fellow devoted fans. At any rate learning about the existence of the OCP project got me so excited that I immediately decided to download the 3 movies and seed them INDEFINITELY. I believe that there are tons of people that would love to have this version but are not aware of its existence. Unfortunately, I only managed to download Episode IV (and 50% of ESB and 15% of ROTJ) before the OCP project was sadly removed. I am not sure, but I think the reason that ocpmovie saw that the Star Wars torrent is still working is because I am seeding it. My upload rate is relatively small, only 12k. So I'll probably be able to supply about 6-9K most of the time, depending on my other bandwidth needs. Anyway, I'll be happy to seed those 3 movies indefinitely as I said, since I’m kinda religious about those movies . Only problem is, I am lacking ESB and ROTJ.
I'll be happy to take on AJP's suggestion. I don’t care which site you put them on, as long as they are accessible to everyone. Just let me know where you post them.
I'll finish by thanking OCP (and anyone else that contributed) for this amazing project, and hope that I can help a bit in keeping it alive.
I am new to the world of fan edits, I found this site while searching for Star Wars info. If anyone can help me get hold of any fan edits on DVD (I don't have the facility to download), I would be more than happy to share what few titles I have collected so far.
Please help, it's almost impossible to get your hands on these unless you can download them

THXjay, turn on your PMs in your user profile so I can contact you off-list. Thanks.

There is a difference Adgitalman removed what he saw as the greatest offences in his edit but kept alot of Special Edition on the DVD Ocpmovie has gone for a De-SE project and removed all the SE elements and created the original theatrical films using the DVD and laserdisk to replace SE elements, both are very good edits It just depends what your looking for either a the complete theatrical film or a hybrid of the OOT and the SE...
Yes, I have v2. Unfortunately, this was sent to me before ocp realized that he left out the Greedo subtitles by mistake. So, I'm waiting for the final version before posting. I'll update when I have info...
