Which do you think is better? Also I do revise what I said some, has been some time since I watched the gonzo set I own, just did a compare and the quality is better with the new set. It is very grainy though, but to be expected.

got return of the Jedi today. it looked great on the TV I'm likely to have for a while.

I bought the full screen version so I could take higher-res stills of the undestroyed 2004 scenes (with the OOT version thankfully still widescreen) and switched the disc positions in the case. the "Bonus disc" is now front and on top.

don't plan to go lego.

Yeah, for right now, I've switched the disc positions as well. Until I manage to send the SE disc back to Lucasfilm, that's where it will stay.

Well I got my copies from Wal-Mart today, and I have to say they're BETTER quality, at least than my FACES DVDs. Anyway, I'm keeping them, and the comics, preserved along with my Widescreen FACES VHS set and the DVDs Sluggo sent me.

P.S. I got LEGO Star Wars II as well.

Watching Star Wars right now...
The quality has its ups and down. For the most part, these look better than most of the bootlegs I've seen, then every once in a while there will be a shot that just looks like ass that takes away from it. Still, right now the thrill of seeing an official release of the old school OT is outweighing any quality issues.
I went with the Best Buy set.
I put my HD rip German 97 SEs in the place of the 04 discs in this set, then put the 04 discs in the case of my old 04 set. I'm just going to give away my extra set of 04 discs.
I was going to pick up the lego game while we were there, but the girl I was with was giving me a ration of sh*t teasing me about being a f*ckin' nerd, so I just grabbed my Seven Samurai, SW tin, and made an exit before drawing too much attention.

Yeah, I find the varying quality to be quite strange myself. I wonder what causes some scenes to look great and others to look like total crap in comparison?

I don't know what causes the quality variances, but it really looks like Star Wars was hodgepoged from multiple sources.

Since a lot of the offensive shots weren't molested in the SE, it might be worth downgrading the quality of the 04 disc for those shots and splicing them into this version.

That's why I said I would consider taking the 04 footage and downgrading it.
Desaturate it and add grain to match it up to the best footage of the OUT disc.
I wouldn't just go dropping it in there if I were to do it.
You'd have to resize it down or animorph up the whole film at the same time to match up the aspect ratios.

Well, I knew you knew better than to do a hack job of just dropping it in there, but even with downgrading the image quality to match, I didn't know it was possible to correct the botched color jobs. Guess I was wrong.

I went ot Circuit City to pick up the new DBZ movie, and although I had planned to get the trilogy too, I didn't. I did look at all the cases, and I'm keeping that case art. The backs look excellent, and I think the fronts are very flashy. I like how its a variation on the poster art, not just a rip of it. I think I'm in the minority here though...

No. I was hoping someone would bring it up, but I love the concept of recreating the old posters by combining actual screenshots. And then to have the real posters on the back. I think the covers are great!

It's not just Hoth but the entire movie. I am especially erked, because ESB is my favorite movie.
