Doctor Who: Shada (Released)

Right, this could be the part where I get into the long complicated discussion about Doctor Who, but I cant be bothered to do that today.

So, let me keep this simple. For the people that don’t know:

Shada was an episode of the classic Doctor Who series. It was an episode that starred Tom Baker as the 4th Doctor. Due to a strike at the BBC, production of this episode was halted, and never completed. Footage from this episode was then used in the 20th anniversary special of the show, ‘The Five Doctors.’ In this episode the 4th Doctor became trapped in time, before being returned to Earth.

Several years later, the episode was released on VHS, along with linking narration from Tom Baker, to explain the bits of missing footage.
You can start to see that this is an odd episode.

Now, several years ago, Shada was remade as a Big Finish audio drama starring Paul McGann as the Doctor. And then this was remade as a BBC animated webcast. The Paul McGann version explained that after the 4th Doctor was returned to Earth in ‘The Five Doctors’ he went on his next adventure, without doing what he originally intended to do on Earth. The 8th Doctor wants to continue that mission.

Neither of these adventures on considered ‘canon.’ And also, neither of these adventures have been released on DVD.

I want to preserve this story. I have put the VHS version on DVD, and I am almost finished converting the Webcast version to DVD. I obviously dont want to charge for this!
I would like this to be done on a PIF format. I shall be giving 3 copies out to people, and then I would like them people to give out three copies to someone else, and so on.
This will come over 2 disks. Disk 1 will contain the original Shada, while Disk 2 will contain the animated version. The whole thing shall come with a reversible DVD cover, so you can choose to display it as a 4th Doctor story, or an 8th Doctor story.
If you want to help PIF, please email me at fanfilmfixes@hotmail.co.uk.

I shall have the covers up in a few days.

Thanks,

Dan

Anyone actually got a copy of this yet?

It's all gone mighty quiet.

It has all gone mighty quiet, as I have been mighty busy heh.

I have been doing many examinations as of late, and therefore have had to delegate this kind of thing to my spare time.

I have the original Shada ready, and am currently making some changes to the Paul McGann version.

Update

Hey Guys!

I have been searching many covers sites, for a cover that would suit our needs, and I came to a decision with the two covers below:

http://art.gmaskew.com/acemel/covers/5m_shada_full.jpg
http://art.gmaskew.com/acemel/covers/bbci_shada_full.jpg

To remind people, this shall be a reversible cover, and shall come over two disks to keep the quality as good as possible.

I am still welcoming submissions for PIF, and shall contact people when I have the DVD set ready.

Regards,

Dan

So what about preserving the audio drama?

An extended version of the "Shada" audio drama is available from Big Finish on CD. You may even be able to get it on amazon and whatnot, but I'm not 100% sure.
Author

You are correct. It is available on Big Finish audio CD.

And since this is a preservation, not a pirating, there is no need to do Shada.

It will be just them two.
