70+ years later, the Fleisher shorts hold up just as well as anything made today, and are often better. Their influence on Japanese anime as a whole is even clear.

Timm's Supes, though, was an excellent character, and seems to be what Singer was attemping to do with SR. "The Late Mr. Kent," for example, explores Superman's dual identity superbly.
