2004 / 2006 OT DVD: Crazy Idea

Does anyone think that the color/sound problems from the 2004 editions will be changed for the 9/12 release? If that were the case, I would consider buying this release. That was my main gripe with the special edition of ESB, besides Ian McDarmid in the emporer scene. Of course, fixing this wouldn’t salvage the other 2 movies, and I’d still prefer the OOT of all 3, but it’d be interesting to see.

Any thoughts?

From what I've heard from people who got the discs early, the DVDs are identical to the 2004 discs. Sorry.

Yeah, it seems as if these are overstocks that they needed to get rid of. But hang in there, as I am positive future SE releases will have things fixed; it will be very easy for them to pass the fixes off as, "Well George decided he DID like it better the way it was the first time around so he changed it back."

This is why we have to mail back those damned 2004 disks. They can't pawn them off on me. What was that address again to the ranch? Because that's where I'm sending mine.

LFL are just trying to get rid of their excess 2004 stock since so few people want the 2004 discs anymore, presumably. What, I wonder, could they do to increase sales, especially for the 30th anniversary? Hmm.

Clean up the SEs, more changes (for the people that will buy into this), changes to the PT, a cleaned up OUT... To me, it's very easy to see that this whole thing is simply a way to get rid of the '04 SEs; they will be completely worthless next year...

*And hence why this is "Limited" because they only have/will only produce so many '04 SEs.

I'm getting my disks today, but I really need to send the 2004's back. Should I send it to the ranch or some place else? And also, what is the address for the Ranch? I mean, which department should it go to.

If it is done RESPECTFULLY, I think that sending back the SEs could be a simple yet effective idea. It may not radically change things, but it will send a message, but since so few people are involved, it might not do much. Remember repect. Here's a personal favorite, straight, polite, and to the point:

"We want you to be aware that we have no plans-now or in the future-to restore the earlier versions."

Then I have no plans, now or in the future, to purchase any future Star Wars and Lucasfilm DVDs, magazines, comic books, action figures, model kits, video games, toys, or any other products ever again until the originals are properly restored.

Simple but effective.

Yeah, I'm planning on sending them back. Which address should I use?

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.
