And when it comes to DVDs, there actually is a difference in DVDs. Hong Kong produces it's own DVDs -> NTSC, region 3 while China mainland itself uses PAL, region 6. Also Hong Kong DVDs are in general considerably better than China DVDs.

So yes, it is very important to distinguish between Hong Kong and (mainland) China DVDs.
