Lowest Priced OOT DVD Search.

I can't remember, but wasn't there supposed to be a thread on here that would keep folks up to date for finding the lowest priced OOT DVDs on the net? I'm looking to pay $10 or less for each of them simply because I don't want to pay for the 2004 "add-ons" and a price thread would be helpful.

yeah, how exactly is that rebate going to work? The rebate form requests the e-mail confermation (which I have) plus the original packing slip.

HOWEVER, will there be 3 individual packing slips for each movie? Because you can't send in a copy of the ONE packing slip they sent you since each movie rebate must be done SEPERATLY.

I hope I'm not screwed out of $21 here, because I'll be pissed.

Where did you get the idea that each movie rebate must be done SEPARATELY ?

Funny thing about that rebate slip. I printed it out but because all the text is in red, it prints out in a very light shade of gray, making it unreadable. I emailed FYE about it, asking them to fix it but no response so far.

You should be able to adjust your printer settings so it prints out only black text.

It says so right on the rebate form you have to print out. "Send a copy of the confermation e-mail AND the packing slip. Only one rebate per envelope."

So that means that if they only send me ONE packing slip that means that I get only ONE rebate. I doubt they will take a copy for my ESB and my ROTJ movies.

Does yours really say "confermation" ?
Mine says confirmation.

Nevertheless, that's merely a symptom of a larger problem. It seems you've interpreted the language on the form differently than I have done.

I'm not worried.

Invader Jenny & Darth Mallwalker:

Have the two of you printed out your rebate forms? If so did the text print out properly? Maybe it is something on my end.

My rebate forms have printed out fine. It must be something from your end.

I think Darth Mallwalker is right about the rebate thing. It's badly worded, but I think your "one rebate submission per envelope" can cover all three rebates - just check the three relevant boxes at the top and you should be fine.

Seeing as Lucas is treating the versions of the three most popular and influential films ever made as bonus material, you shoul already be pissed.

Does anyone know if they're offering rebates from Best Buy, Suncoast or anywhere else?

Is the rebate US-only?

Here in Philadelphia, PA we get the sales papers a day early so I figured I would list what they said and any extras you can get. Hope this helps a little!

1. Best Buy - No price listed for the movies [checked website and lists for $16.99], but they have the tin and all 3 movies for $59.99. Also says "minimum 20 per store".

2. Circuit City - No price listed but says "Low Price" [checked website and lists for $14.99]. Free collectible SW lithograph w/ purchase of each DVD; collect all 3!

3. K-Mart - No price but says "Low Price DVDs" [movies not even listed on website].

4. Target - No price listed [website says $17.87]. Exclsuive original concept art mini-poster in each movie.

5. Toys R Us - $19.99 each. FREE $5 Limited Edition SW gift card with purchase of any SW movie or Lego SW II. *Also points out in big letters with an arrow towards DVDs, "EXPECTED 09/12".

I find it highly suspicious that almost all of these retailers haven't committed to an in-store price yet this late in the game, and Toys R Us made sure it was known they are "expected". Hmmm....

I think they RARELY promote their prices on new dvds before the day of their release. I've almost never seen them print a price ahead of time, and the "pre-order" price on the website rarely matches the in-store price that Tuesday. Why? Because they don't want people to know their price (or their competition to know their price). They plain and simply want to get people into the store. By using the "low price" nonsense, they can gain customer interest while also not committing to a price, which may or may not be better than their competition's.

But I've always seen new DVD prices listed in the sale ads. I can't say I have ever watched this closely before and I'm not saying every release has the sale price listed, but I know I have seen it done plenty of times.

But yeah, definitely one big scam to get you in the door. Does EVERYTHING with a SW release have to be so shady?!?

Most of the stores have a price-matching policy, but you have to bring in some sort of proof of the price (like a flyer) before they'll match it. That's why nobody puts their prices in their flyers- they want to make sure you buy it from them.

The ads I've seen have always shown the price. They usually show it either on the whole page ("All DVDs this page $20) or they'll have a circled price touching the DVD. Not showing the price really has nothing to do with them worrying about their competition seeing their prices. Every store has their prices set a week or more in advance and they're usually set by the headquarters, not the stores themselves, so there's not much that any store could do to adjust their prices anyway. The whole point of price matching is that once you're in the store buying other stuff, they'd rather have you stay in their store and buy it from them. Sure, they may not make as much money as they could have, but they're still making money on it.

Having the prices match between the store and online has become a far smaller problem in recent years, at least with Best Buy. I know they use to tell people "Well, that's the online price", but now they even have it setup so you can check store inventory, so it really is the same price (at least around here it is).

And besides all that, it's just as easy to call all the local retailers and ask them what they're price is before even going to the store. This is how they do they're price matching anyway. If you don't have an ad, they'll call the store you're trying to price match to and verify the price.

Yeah, I love going to bestbuy.com and seeing the in-store price. It's a great system. Unlike the freaking Target website. You can't find a price for any of the in store stuff on that site, its slow, and has a horrible search engine.

The stores usually commit to a set price and advertise them in their weekly flyers. But occasionally with a big release they'll play it a bit more mum and let you keep guessing. I remember no one advertised their price for the SW set in 2004.

I just looked through all of the flyers in the Sunday paper- CC, BB, Target, etc., and the ONLY one that stated the price was Toys 'R' Us for $19.99 each (and they don't have an exclusive).

My local ads show Best Buy listing the price of the tin as $60. The individual movies are listed at $16.99 each on their website and are shown on sale. They're also listed as pre-order, so you wouldn't be able to do in store pickup until Tuesday. CC doesn't show the price at all anywhere. Target isn't even advertising them around here, so of course there wouldn't be a price listed.

So I guess depending on your area, the price may or may not be shown.
