Ah. That doesn't look good. Anyone check Amazon's U.S. sight?

Well, at least they're together. This is not looking good at all.

How do you check?

Well I know Lucas is in absolute nirvana right now... he will see the OOT destroyed for good.

Not necessarily. It doesn't look like this release will be flying off shelves, but it does like its sale will be fair, if not spectacular, and should give Lucas a small message. Remember, the man is not stupid. He is a brilliant marketing genius. First he will sell this release, then a remastered one, then a Blu-Ray one, etc.

I'm not sure about that... I still think that this release is going to be his alibi. If they sell well, he'll say "You got what you want, now quit the whining.". If they don't sell well, he'll say "See, no one wants them."...

Luca$hFilm know that the OOT will sell on DVD. They're just using it to sell yet another repackaging of the SE. They wouldn't release something that they weren't sure would sell, would they?

That's what I thought. There is money to be made, and they want to make it. That's not necessarily good, bad, or indifferent, I'm just making a statement.

True, but that would be a really, really stupid assumption on his part.

If the theatrical releases were given a high quality, digital master to DVD, with mutliple audio tracks available, and filled with other historical information and special features, it would make a lot of money. With this kind of OT release, most casual Star Wars fans probably couldn't give a shit (because of the sub-par treatment), much less think they should buy the same 2004 DVDs a second time just to get it.

Perhaps. As I have stated, I do firmly believe that Lucas is anything but stupid, but he could easily twist poor sales into that, in spite of the fact that LFL keep sayin that this is just an attempt to release the movies individually.

They're getting higher.

Everyone star praying.

Mike, I'm pretty sure that doesn't mean what you think it means.

I could personally care less wether sales are good or bad on this release. I only care that I will have the OOT on dvd. I own the SE version on dvd because it was a Christmas gift. If Lucas is so petty that he will come out and say told you so if sales are bad. Who Cares. He has had one good Idea. Sure it created the greatest series of movies ever but it was still just one good idea.
Does anyone here think that the fact that he released his abominations first would have an effect on sales of the OOT. I believe that the sales will be higher on the first version released.

Alas, you are probably correct.

I mean I'm pretty sure he just means the information about what people want "will all come out in the end".

What I hope was that he meant that he was testing the waters with this release to see if there would be enought demand to release a remastered OOT on the 30th anniversary boxed set. As I've said, I think that you are correct and that the answer is no.

Oh, and as of 08/23/06 the discs are selling better, and SW is now in the top 100. It's starting to look like these discs will not have the earth-shattering sales that we all hoped for, but will nonetheless set moderately well.

Yup, people are starting to find out about the release. I hear there was a Wal-Mart flyer last week that showed the DVDs with the graphic novel exclusives.

It was posted a while ago that Best Buy Canada was going to have an exclusive tin. I'm not sure if anyone's posted it yet, but Best Buy is now offering this in the US. Here's a link:
Best Buy Tin

It's a nice looking tin, but too expensive! They need to drop that price quite a bit, otherwise I'll just buy the singles somewhere else for under $20 each.

I had a feeling that Best Buys in America were going to get the same tin. I think its too much money, though. It's $30 just for the tin! I think if you buy all 3 movies they should give you the tin free!

Target is supposed to have an exclusive, too. Some kind of artwork or something. I can't find a link, though.
Wal-Mart has a comic book with each movie, but as far as I know, they're free with purchase.

Now I don't know what to think, it looks like there is a demand for this product, and it will sell well.

What does Lucas do now? He said, "It will all come out in the end." Will he back it up now with a pristine O-OT transfer in the rumored '07 boxset?

I think everyone should buy this set because either:

it will never be out again
or
the more people buy it I think the better chance it will get at recieiving a just transfer.

Either that or all the people buying them are going to flood eBay in January for people like myself that may not get them in time (can only buy 1 a month - poo!).
