George could learn a lot from the producers, directors and writers of the show.

-They admit that they don't have an "original vision" for the entire season and major plot twists are often late season decisions. For example: the Nina Meyers being a mole plot twist was not originally intended, nor was President Logan being in with the baddies.
-They LOVE getting suggestions from fans for plot ideas and read the official message boards. Some of them even post there.
-They have a fan phone on the set where fans can call in and talk to some of the actors! It originated in season 4 when fans noticed a phone number of a character's cell phone, dialed it and got through to the set!
-They haven't gone back and changed the scene where Jack killed Nina Meyers by letting her shoot first while lying wounded on the ground!
-They don't have a bunch of yes men telling them they can do no wrong.
George Lucas was seduced by the dark side. The OOT ceased to exist in his mind and became the Special Editions...." "They're more maching now than movies. Twisted and evil."

The whole "on the fly" plotting works so well with this show. I can't imagine how much it would suck to have the twists leaked on the net and I accidently read them.

On the other, for historical films changed 20-30 years after the fact.....it's bullshit unless both get equal tremtment.

TV series are very different from movies, you know.
Some were not blessed with brains.

Not all of them boris. Babylon 5 and X-Files are two examples of tv shows that did have a 5 year grand plan. Others, like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, don't really have a "grand plan". In all cases, I don't think a tv show has ever gone back to change something they didn't like. They either make it work in future episodes or they just deal with it as a small plothole.

The only tv show I know of that may have changed an episode is the musical episode of Buffy. The original airing ran about 5-10 mins long. All subsequent airings were said to have been cut short, so if you want to see the full ep, you have to buy the DVD. I don't watch a lot of tv, but I've still never heard of a show that made a change to an episode based on the director not liking something after the fact. Once it's aired, the only real changes they make are cosmetic (someone blinking at the wrong time or something).

Well, I believe there are a lot of older shows that have been altered for syndication and haven't been changed back.

I believe Buffy is an example of a series that did have a grand plan. For example, they were able to sprinkle hints to season 5 (like the appearance of Buffy's sister and a certain characters death) a whole two years earlier. But maybe they were making seasons 6 & 7 up as they went along.

I love 24 and have been a fan since Day 1 Hour 1, but I'm not sure how much George could learn from the staff. They always seem to have a Jar-Jar type moment in the show at least once a season (that's understating it). Kim (and I love Elisha) anyone?

At least they left her mostly out of the last season. How bad was it when she was fighting off a mountain lion and some weird guy and she had a gun. I dreaded it anytime they went to her part of the story. I remember saying to the tv "just kill her already!". Dumb as a box of rocks!

Killing her would be bad. I'd feel so bad for Jack and I don't know how he'd go on. But they don't need to keep including her. Her reapperance in season 5 could have been so much more...

Kim: I HATE YOU!

Jack: I was doing what was best for you.

Kim: Who gives a ****?

Jack: You could have been killed.

Kim: So?

CTU Agent: Nerve Gas!!!!

(Chaos ensues. Later, after Jack saves the day...)

Kim: I hate you.

Jack: I just saved your life...

Kim: Screw off. I'm going to go get it on with my boyfriend.

Jack: He's older than me!!

Kim: So? You don't care about me!

Jack: What do you mean?

Kim: You never told me about being alive!

Jack: It was to save you!

Kim: Who cares. I hate you. Goodbye.

Kim's plot's are always like that. Stupid and ranting....
