I possibly would... My ancestors came from Europe before WW2...

But a change like that would affect the rest of the world too.

Yes it would. One of the downsides of the Atlantropa idea that it's creator never considered was the affect it would have on the environment: The proposed dam would prevent warm mediterranean water from flowing into the Atlantic, which would affect it's flow and maybe even bring on a new ice age.

A new ice age due to a construction and a change on the sea level? I don't know... Well, one thing is obvious of why he didn't pursue this plan: money.

Tomorrow I am leaving for California. Well actually I am leaving for Washington, staying with my sister-in-law for a couple of days, then driving down the coast to California, but you get the idea.

After this prolonged stay in Jamestown, North Dakota I have mixed feelings about the move. Obviously I am pleased to be getting the hell out of here and starting on the path to getting my life back, but at the same time 4 months of being here in a sleepy town with no job and no responsibility makes the thought of heading to L.A. in search of work a daunting and scary concept. The fact that if I don't get a job pronto I will have nowhere to live adds to the pressure. On top of that I am actually slightly sad to be leaving because although the situation (living with the in-laws) sucks, there are people here who I like and will miss. However, dispite all that I wouldn't stay here if you paid me, so all in all I'm pretty happy about going. We'll see how I feel about it in a few months when city life begins to grate... I'm looking at the big city through rose-tinted glasses right now, but when I lived in London there were times I hated it and would have done anything to get out into the country - like they say, the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence.

So there's the YIYF blog entry for today. Next stop: Washington.

Sean, the shallow end is better. Everyone knows the Krakken lives in the deep end.

I want to. But it depends if I have the money. I'd like to try Vash The Stampede. I also need ideas. Who did you do before?

I have an idea for a TV miniseries. Tell me what you guys think.

It would be based on Star Fox 64. Imagine the feel of the Death Star attack from the original Star Wars, captured in an animated (preferably CG) TV series. Since Star Fox 64 had 1 level per planet, each episode would be a different planet. The episodes would follow the same basic structure, but more of the plot (i.e. Fox's father, Pigma's turn, Star Wolf, etc.) would be revealed along the way. The final episode, of course, would be the final battle with Andross on Venom.

Whaddya think?

And of course, Peppy would have to say "Do a barrel roll!" at least once.

I'd watch it! Someone should also comment on Slippy sounding like a chick.

Unfortuantely, Nintendo seems commited to giving Star Fox fans everything EXCEPT exactly what they want. Just give us a new Starfox game with the gameplay of SF64 but new levels. No Dinosaur Planets, no ground and vehicle missions, and no DS stylus command.

Just Star Fox 64 with new levels, Ninendo! Is that so much to ask?!

The ground levels of Star Fox 64 were good.

Has anyone played the fan-finished version of Star Fox 2 for the SNES? A mind-blowing game, if you ask me, even though it still felt incomplete... Imagine if that was released as soon as the SNES was released... The SEGA Genesis would have faded away in a couple of months...

Yeah, I just bought Star Fox Assault for the GC , expecting much better than Dinosaur Planet, and I was super-pissed. For every flying mission, there were about four on foot missions........and there's only 10 missions!!! Screw Star Fox.

It's so sad that Nintendo has runned the Star Fox franchise to the ground. Fox McCloud was sort of the #2 mascot for Nintendo along with Mario back in the mid 90s... But they decided to inovate on their games and took away what made the game good back on it's first incarnation back on the SNES... And if you see the selling numbers for the DS version, it's an absolute disaster... I dare to say it's the last Star Fox game we'll ever see.

I only saw a little bit of Star Fox Assault, and I thought it looked pretty good. I hated that all the voices had been replaced by guys who sucked, but maybe that's just nostalgia talking. I happen to love the cast of SF64.

"I'm monkey food if I don't leave!" "Thought you could hide from me, eh? Escaping? I don't think so!" "Gee! I've been saved by Fox! How swell!" "Slippy's not such a screwup after all!" "Thanks a lot, Peppy!"

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

That's because the Landmaster in that game had decent controls. It was essentially an Arwing that had to obey the law of gravity. The Landmaster in SFA actually drives like a tank. A real world tank. And the weapons on it suck.

Since you guys showed some interest in the miniseries idea, if I wrote a screenplay for the first episode, would anyone be at all interested in actually reading it?

Don't have a lot of time right now but thought I would get on here briefly to inform those of you who are interested that I arrived safely in L.A about 4 hours ago. For now I'm staying with a friend in Hollywood, and it will be a while before my days of crashing in other people's homes are over. Hopefully it won't be long until I'm a bit more chilled and settled and I'll be back on ot.com regularly.
