We're not saying a stingray is a 'punk' death, but that it's ironic he spent so much of his life with snakes and crocs, but what ultimately killed him was a totally unrelated animal from a different phylum. I figured if I he ever did get killed by an animal, it would be a snake or croc.

I was the one who said he went out like a punk, and I suppose those are strong words - but I really think even he'd have preferred to go out against a giant croc.

As am i.
If its true or not its wrong to make a joke of the circumstances. I do have repect for the guys talent and i respect what he was trying to do for public misconception with the animals he delt with. He also has a scence of enthusiasm with his work that i envy as such.
Sorry guys with the bad joke.

It was on the news (TV), with the people who were filming the documentary. Here's a link to an Australian newspaper:Apparently fake death reports on 4chan are at a all time high.

They called it an accidental death on TV... but it was no "accident" - he was attacked by a stingray! Alright, it's not common to die from it... but it's no more an "accident" then dying from a shark bite. The stingray barb went through his chest and punctured his heart.
PS: He was only popular in the USA.

Not true. He was very popular in England and today my inbox was full of e-mails from my friends talking back and forth about his death.Originally posted by: Darth Chaltab

Yeah, perhaps, but getting SIMULTANEOUSLY STABBED AND STUNG IN THE HEART is pretty damn hardcore if you ask me. Originally posted by: Yoda Is Your Father

As an Australian, I would say that he is perhaps a little less popular here than he is in the US. Strangely enough, we only got the first season of his show on free-to-air TV, and then nothing. When I was in the US, I saw him on Animal Planet all the time. But everyone in Australia knows him, for sure - and we even imitated him from time to time, on TV shows and in day-to-day joking around.
But he was pretty much the face of Australian tourism, and while we were sometimes annoyed that our whole country had come to be associated with his exaggerated 'ocker' accent and generally crazy antics, we were also proud to have a daredevil tough-ass representing us as well. He has done a lot to raise awareness of wildlife around the world, educating people about the dangers of the bush. He has also done a world of good for Australian tourism, and he did seem like a really top bloke. News of his death has dominated the media over the last day and a bit, and people all over the country are mourning his death.

Steve Irwin - you made reptiles fun. You made conservation feel like a noble cause. And now you leave behind two children who will only know you through the hours and hours of film footage shot over the past 8 years.
Here's to you, man. You died doing what you loved. And we can only wish for the same fate.

Dude what is wrong with you? Are you out of touch with reality? He was killed while filming sting-rays for his newest documentary, the details of his death (a puncture to, or close to his heart) have been made public. He was killed, end of story - why is there someone who always just can't take reality? I just hope this is all fake.
