Meanwhile, I have completed the sound mix for about 1/5 of the movie, and rendered it out with video in full resolution just to have a look at it (in the RM format). Although I do fullscreen tests every once in a while, much of the time I'm only seeing the image in a pretty small box. And the cuts are slow, and all of the audio tracks don't always come through. So seeing so much of the work in fullscreen was really neat for me. There are all kinds of little details that you can't track unless you watch it this way.
There are several shots that are much too dark. There's a couple of dodgy audio sections I need to work out. And the volume levels on a lot of the dialogue are (in context) ridiculously off. But at the same time, there are a couple 2-3 minute chunks that are just sublime, with no distractions whatsoever and all technically sound. I'm also finding as I work that it's ridiculously easy to use the original ambiences throughout, because there's so much dead space in the original cut.

I have another odd request to make- do any of you own Ridley Scott's "Alien" on DVD? If so, I was wondering if any of you could rip the 20th century fox logo from that film and briefly put it on the net for me. As I understand it, this is one of the best (if not the best) source of that particular version of the logo.
