X-Wing or Y-Wing, which ship would you prefer?

If these fighters were real and you could own them, which would you rather have - the X-wing or the Y-wing?
I'd like a qui-gon jinn please with an Obi-Wan to go.

X-Wing. It's no contest really. The X-Wing is a much faster vehicle and, IMO, looks cooler.

Xwing!

Or... X-Wing, B-Wing or A-Wing?

The real question is, X-Wing or TIE Fighter?

Still rather have an X-Wing. TIE Fighters have no shields

Now if I had the choice of an X-Wing, A-Wing, or B-Wing, I'd probably take the A-Wing. Fast ship with good shields.

In the game X-wing, I prefered A-wings most of the time. X-wing is a close second.

I'll say this about the Y-wing - there were some missions that required really, really long-distance shots to keep waves of tie-fighters at bay, and the Y-wing did this with aplomb. It's a good workhorse, and takes a wallop.

Now, the B-wing, holy shit!!!

Ah, but they do in the O-OT. They were erased by Lucas' tinkering. Some call them garbage mattes. I always thought they were shields.

I have a soft spot for the Y-Wing. It's probably the A-10 Warthog of the SW universe. And the Holiday Special proved it's much more useful in a water landing.

Give me an Imperial Gunboat, or TIE Defender, and I'll take all of you out.

Saying "I'll take all of you out in a T/D" isn't exactly saying a lot about your abilities, you know.

That's why I said Imperial Gunboat first. The Defender was for overkill. *LOL*

Wow. I was wondering if anyone would vote for the Y-wing.

I considered voting for the Y-Wing, but its a tough call, so I ended up not posting at all.

However, I see some other ships being offered up as suggestions, so I'll throw in my own.

The Muurian Transport.
Its more of a freighter than a fighter, but its equipped with turbolasers as well as laser cannons and its fairly fast.

Well, of the original X or Y choice I've already said I'll take an X-Wing, but if I was to have my pick of any SW ship, I'd take the Falcon, or maybe a Star Destoyer.

I do like those one man ships though, so maybe I'd still take an X-Wing.

"ejectable cockpit."

I know that, game-wise, all the ships had ejection seats. Canon-wise, I'm not sure.

I'd rather have a Star Destroyer. Or, if on a limited budget, either a Tie Fighter or a Pod from 2001 A Space Odissey.

The downside of a Star Destoyer is you need a crew. And for someone like me (a loner who likes to be in control) that might not be so great.

Not if you have one of the DSs from Dark Force Rising.

touche.

Of course, if I had the choice of any vehicle, I'd take a Super Star Destroyer. Then I'd just modify it to be operated by voice commands. Wouldn't need a crew for that

I've always had a soft spot for the underdog. So when I was a kid and saw the trench run, I could see that there were many more X's than Y's. Naturally, I preferred Y's at the time.

Nowadays, I am pro X-wing. The X-wing is so iconic, such a powerful symbol of Star Wars, along with the Millennium Falcon, Death Star, Star Destroyer, and Super Star Destroyer. No other vehicles in all the other Star Wars movies had the same visual impact.
