"What are head slugs?"

Lean over towards me and I'll show you......closer......closerrrrrrrr.........SLUG!

[andy_k_250] "Ouch!" [/andy_k_250]

Sorry. What he's referring to are the moving dark shapes over Palps face in ROTJ (to correct something-or-other). To be honest, I've not seen ROTJ in a long time since hearing about these, and never really noticed them. That being said, I'm scared to watch it now, because I know that once I see them, they'll stick out at me.

MeBeJedi: Sadly, I believe the prequels are beyond repair.
JediRandy: They’re certainly beyond any repair you’re capable of making.

MeBeJedi: You aren’t one of us.
Go-Mer-Tonic: I can’t say I find that very disappointing.

JediRandy: I won’t suck as much as a fan edit.

That's exactly what I want to see fixed - they are, above all else, probably the worst eyesore sfx in the OT. I don't even understand why they are there. I noticed them when I was like 5 (in 1986), so I am surprised you've never seen them.

I would love to see this edit, if for nothing else, than to see the scenes with Luke's Blue Saber.

If done properly...that alone would make this edit awesome, regardless of any other changes.

Using that logic...why did it need to be green in the first place?

Luke's first saber was blue. Obi-Wan's was blue. The only other color he had ever seen was red. What made him pick green? What made him even think he could make them that color?

Exactly.

It was originally meant to be blue. This is evidenced by the trailer.

The whole green saber thing was just a ploy by Lucas to surprise audiences.

While I dont hate the green light saber...not even in the least. Hell...I love it.

But I would be very much intrigued to see the film with the originally intended blue color.

I am looking VERY forward to this project is

No it wasn't just a ploy, it was a production decision because of the blue sky at the Sarlacc Pit, they were afraid they wouldn't see it--although I could see it just fine on the original trailer, I dunno that's what I was told. I'm pretty sure that's correct, the only bs we ever get about Star Wars is always in the guise of an "artistic decision" and not a production decision. I'm just throwing it out there is all, can't wait to see it.

Maybe it was changed to green to be instantly recognized as a new saber (most people hadn't seen Empire in 3 years) since the scene of Luke building it was cut.

I hope that scen is in the 07 boxset.

I can't wait till the update on Wednesday =]

Out of curiosity...what video source are you using for this edit?

DVD? Laserdisc? Fan transfer?

And for that matter, what format: PAL or NTSC?

It was supposed to, but I had a huge headache, so I couldn't post the update. I'll give you the update tommorow (Saturday).

I started of the 2004 DVD, but I might use so footage from the new OOT DVD of ROTJ to DE-SE some parts.
This is a PAL transfer.

I remember, and downloaded, some short clips from ROTJ from tf.n where someone had added flashes and damage to the victims of Luke's saber on the skiff. Was this your work?

My stance on revising fan edits.

Nope, its the first time I actually do such a big edit with ROTJ.

I don't think the scene was ever released on the net.

Nope it was never released I am afraid. There is a storyboard and some audio from the radio drama along with early scripts. But that's all.

(worrying that this project might steal the thunder of 'Returning to Jedi')

Just to add to the conversation, have you ever considered naming the film with THE at the beginning? I've heard people refer to it such as THE return of the Jedi or THE attack of the clones. Also, once this edit is complete, are you going to post it on the internet, using a site such as Youtube?

This could be great for my edit, if I don't want to do some of the changes myself.
