I'm sure I've heard the name Anakin in a non-star wars context.

Edit: Nope, looks like I'm wrong. I just checked a bunch of baby name websites and they all list Anakin as a name created by George Lucas. Apparently Lucas based it on the surname of his friend and fellow director Ken Annakin.
