I've always said that Lucas would be hailed as a genius and loved by us all if he had made retro-prequels, i.e. use todays CGI technology to make films that look like they were made in the 70s. albeit without some of the less-desired things such as garbage mattes, wires on puppets, etc, etc.

So if these Star Trek Special Edition episodes look 'old but new' I think it will be cool. By that I mean don't change the ship designs, don't have crazy aliens with all kinds of mad CGI tentacles etc - use the CGI to create boxy, sixties style machinery and ships. Am I making sense?
