'I Bent My Wookie' - The Animated Tribute Project (* unfinished project *)

Hi everyone!

I’m not new to this forum, I’ve just been silent!
I would like to present my contribution to the ever increasing flora of Star Wars related DVD projects!
This is…

I bent my wookie
A collection of animated Star Wars tributes

Star Wars has often been spoofed and spotted on shows like The Simpsons, Futurama and so forth.
I have long been trying to find and gather all of these small clips in order to document and preserve them (without having to store a zillion gigabytes of TV episodes on my harddrive).

I tried to compose a project like this a year back but I never got around to making anything useful of it.

Now I am on the verge of starting a new job as a digitial designer for a dvd company and I found that I needed some practise
and that is why I rebooted this project.

The DVD will contain the, more or less, of the following:

SW spoofs from the Simpsons (Seasons 1 - 18) as seen here: http://www.snpp.com/guides/starwars.html
SW spoofs from Futurama (Seasons 1 - 5)
SW spoofs from South Park (Seasons 1 - 10) as seen here: http://www.spscriptorium.com/SPinfo/SPStarWars.htm
SW spoofs from Family guy (Seasons 1 - 4)
and SW spoofs from Robot Chicken (Seasons 1 & 2)

Plus MORE…if I can find it!

All featuring animated menues and handy background information and so forth…yadda yadda…You know the drill!

You can imagine the problems of watching all these episodes so…

If you know any good spoofs - Don’t hesitate to tip me so I won’t have to sit through all seasons of South Park, Futurama and Family Guy
(Robot Chicken is already done and Simpsons is under control).

I’ve set up a section at my website for this project. Feel free to come by and look!
There you’ll find some overall info on the project and some work-in-process (but not any of the spoof clips!)

Great idea! I love the Ralph Wiggum inspired title.

On Futurama last night (it was the episode where the kids make a newspaper business to compete with their fathers), there is a quick clip of the space slug biting at their ship, as they are flying through asteroids.

One Family Guy episode has Peter shoo'ing Jawas away from his car, but I can't remember which one. The newest season's first episode also opened with a complete Star Wars throne room celebration recreation. There are also two scenes throughout the series where Ben is instructing Luke on the Force.

This is a fantastic idea.
Doing a quick Google search, I found a link to everyones favorite pedia - Wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_cultural_references_to_Star_Wars .
I'm positive this isn't a complete list, but it's a good start. Looking over the list, I've got the Freakazoid Episode, the Futurama episode listed, some of the Muppet Babies (Although, you can make an entire DVD out of those), Toy Story 2, and of course, any Family Guy that is on DVD. I know American Dad has a a few references in the episode where they go to the Sci Fi convention (got that too). If you need any help getting these, just ask, and I'll see what I can do.

For completion's sake, I think you should include the FOX Simpsons bumper with Bart's head superimposed over Luke's during the trench run - I've got that.

You are right andy_k_250 this is one of the items I would have to include on the DVD. It was mentioned in the Star Wars insider article on the SW/Simpsons spoof article, but it's not exactly something you would stumble over on the net! (if you know what I mean).

BTW...I also saw that Wiki article and It would be optimal to make them ALL (heh heh) into a DVD project but I would rather keep myself focused on the animated SW references (Lets not even begin to talk "Bent Wookie 2 - Revenge of the Spoof"). Specifically from The Simpsons (spoofs in abundance). Andy_k_250 just email me on my private email! I would love to snatch that bumper clip from you!!!

If you can find it, don't forget the Muppet Babies episode were they did Star Wars. I remember loving that episode as a kid. Animal Vader, Gon-Solo, and Kermit Skyhopper.

Collecting all of what you mentioned is definitely several discs worth. Here is another great site which will help you out.
http://www.nerf-herders-anonymous.net/SWRD.html
Listed will be other animated shows which might be out in one form or another.

There's such a vast amount of material to collect, that it might make sense to start collecting with a show that your more familiar with, then proceed to lesser shows. The great thing about this project is that the clips will be small, so trading .vobs with free services like YSI.com or megaupload.com can be a way so that everyone can contribute.
Good luck, you'll need it

This whole thing sounds awesome.

Any projected date of completion?...or is that totally out of the picture at this point in time?

Also, will it be PAL or NTSC?

Phew...lots of words!

Estimated deadline.....Well...kinda dependes on how much help I can get!
But personally I haven't set a specific deadline for this project. I want it to
be complete. So it will have to take as long as it has to.

I have the muppet babies actually - horrible muck...cheesy!
I would include it if I had any idea on the overall length and
size of this project. But I don't so I won't squeeze it in yet!

I am logging all your advice and spotted references.

Going down to work on South Park Season 1-4 this weekend (with a shovel and a pickaxe).

And by the way...I'm working on making it PAL (best nr. of scanlines).
Cheers from a rainy Sweden!

That one was just on the other day actually. The 90 minute episode centered on Stewie. It's actually Stewie doing the shooing when he's after his "real father". There was an episode that spoofed "Police Squad" that had a trench run in it, and an episode that closed with the Yavin Ceremony scene.

South Park had an episode that actually spoofed ALL the Lucas/Spielberg films at once! It was the one about the "Special Editions" There's gold in that one.

Ah, Zoidberg. I admit I hated Futurama when it first premiered, but I was so wrong about it.

You might as well include the complete season 1 of Undergrads as it's all Star Wars related. This project sounds awesome! Best of luck with this one.

Wow, all this project sounds great! Being myself a big fan of The Simpsons and Futurama, I've always enjoyed to see Star Wars references in thoses shows. One of my favourite SW references in Futurama is the cops' "fake" lightsabers.

I'm really waiting to watch this!

Hey, I've just read on TFN that Mel Brooks is starting a Spaceballs animated series. It could be interesting for your project, cause there is no doubt that many SW references will be at the rendezvous.

The TFN news is here.
