if something is riding on a repulsion field, then it is subject to movement based on weight etc. luke getting out of the speeder would make it bounce on its field as the weight changes and the internal projector adjusts to the new weight to maintain the ride height.

It's still going to bounce as he gets out it just seems to bounce for too long after he gets out at the Lars homestead.
i really like the idea of it raining when luke discovers there bodies. Problem is finding sequences of rain against a dark plain background so i can overlay it.
