Editing MPEG2 on the Mac - is there a Womble clone?

When I create my fan edits, I use Mac the Ripper, Cinematize, Final Cut Pro, and DVD STudio Pro. I'm wondering, is there a program for the Mac that will allow you to edit in the native MPEG2 format without recompressing (such as Womble's MPEG Video Wizard)?
I want to see your re-edit! Whatever it is!

FCP Handles MPEG2, just rendering sucks. And not all the time is the audip and video synced.

It does?!?! Don't you have to recompress it when sending it to DVD? Are you able to edit it natively in the timeline?

Yeah, you just throw the M2V in. it WILL NOT handle AC3 though. Thats how I did my kill bill edit. Then opened the fcp file in DVDSP.

No, you have to recompress it in FCP, so it's not native. I don't recommend editing that way, as there's high rendering times and too much M2V video seems to crash the program anyway. Converting it to PhotoJPEG (in MPEG Streamclip) lets you edit more easily (though you pay for it in hard drive space - I had a tough decision between crashing or having less material to edit with when doing my 10 Doctors project).

I don't know of a way to edit M2V natively on Mac. MPEG Streamclip is very useful for cutting the part of a clip you want out, though ... the accuracy being within 15 frames as is the M2V standard. I often "edit" my M2Vs together in DVD Studio Pro - how I did Empire and Jedi classic.

That was what I was going to suggest too, since you already have it. DVD Studio Pro can cut between GOPs without recompression. If you wanted to cut exactly (or add transitions) only using the software you already have then you could cut out the GOPs that will be changed, make the changes in FCP, re-render back to MPEG2 and reinsert the new GOPs.

That said, I was looking for similar programs to Womble for Mac and thought I found a couple, can't remember what they were though! I guess I decided to just jump through all thoughs hoops I just mentioned and not pay for a new program.

I'm not aware that DVD Studio Pro can open Final Cut Pro documents. Curious what QtheGaijin is on about there. Perhaps an update I haven't seen.

In the UB DVDSP it gave me the option to open my fcp project and it import the video. I wonder why FCP doesnt accept Apple Intermediate Video, its better than mjpeg, and was meant for HD or master encodings.
