I saw your Alderaan test sequence, and that was amazing! How did you do that? Amazing what someone can do with a computer.

Anyway, some desaturation and de/recoloring would be a great help to the '04 OT. ESB and ROTJ have this terrible blue glow to most of them, and Endor just looks too bright green I can't stand to watch it!
A cool shot would be maybe turning any one officer who reports to Tarkin and Vader in ANH into a hologram, like the one who reports that the rebel base ain't on Dantooine. Just an idea, don't have to listen to it.

My stance on revising fan edits.

I'd like you to re-host all the files you originally uploaded to Rapidshare and put them on Yousendit. For some reason, Rapidshare is blocked on my computer.

The one shot I'd really like to see fixed Adywan, and which to my knowledge no edit has done yet, is when R2 gets shot in the Death Star Trench. The whole thing just looks really badly composited

FINISHED:
The Sith Revealed - A Scrapbook
Episode III The Video Game - The Movie
24: The Missing Day
Star Wars - The Interactive Board Game DVD
Battlefront - Journal of the 501st

hi adywan, this is an amazing work, your edit and D.Editous/AdigitalMan hybrid edition are what the fans waitin for a long time, Bravo. the falcon "manoeuvre" chase scene is fantastiK, how do u do this whit what ? u've added some vader's theme in your edition, where do u insert it ? here one thing that always bugd me, the speeder scenes in the canyon: we can see clearly that the speeder is not"floatin" in the air, and under it a big black "roc" support the vehicule, is there any possiblity to fix it, (i've tried to do it for my edition, but i've give up), thanks again and MTFBWU.

I was just watching a Star Tours (the Star Wars Disneyland ride) video and the X-Wings actually do jump to hyperspace as soon as they pull up from the Death Star trench so there is at least an official video precedent for that happening!

I want to go on Star Tours again, pity it is on the wrong side of the world...

Ooh, a laserdisc. The Cheat's playin' something on a laserdisc.
Everything is better on a laserdisc. Whatever happened to the laserdisc? Laserdisc!

My whole intention is to tie all 6 films together so that if you watch them back to back so that:
1. OT doesn't look so dated with its effects compared to the PT. Plus there was a lot of things in ANH that i was hoping Lucasfilm had fixed by now, but haven't and doesn't look like they are planning on anytime soon.
2. by adding a few tie-ins from the PT to the OT (and editing the PT) they flow together better (and not just a montage of planets at the end of the saga
This is exciting to hear! I've wanted to do my own for the same reasons. You might want to edit your original first post on this thread to include what you just wrote. It might be helpful for new people coming in.

I've had an idea of, as a special feature, making a montage of completely new clips or shots. I want to throw a few humourous ones in too, so let me know. I will probably only have the capability & material to do some but it could be a cool special feature for the DVD
Hmm interesting. If I think of anything, I'll let you know.

If anyone has a DVD of ANH with a foreign 5.1 audio track could you please post just the ripped .ac3 file somewhere please.

I wish I could help out. I know squat about this stuff!

...and Endor just looks too bright green I can't stand to watch it!

Funny. I thought just the opposite. All the greens look too muted on Endor. Not very vibrant colors...

Yeah, I'd like to see that happen too. The smoke you added to the second shot looks great though, Adywan!

As far as the big rock holding up the speeder goes...
I'd love to see the rock go too...but I also know it would be very difficult to get it to look right too.

I have another question, adywan:
Will you be taking anything out of this edition? I know you're having Han shoot first and all...but are you removing any other SE stuff?
I pretty much enjoyed all the SE...I'd like most of it to say in. But that's just me.

I'm also wondering if you're removing (now, people, take it easy) anything from the ORIGINAL film. "Like what?" you may ask. Well, maybe trim down some of the driods on Tatoonie stuff? I wouldn't really remove any particular scene. Just some of the "excess" stuff. That whole sub plot takes forever. I could be more specific if needed.

You know that shot of Luke pulling up in the landspeeder where Ben says "there's nothing you could have done, had you been there"?

The landspeeder always wobbled in that shot and drove me crazy, it's so obvious it's just on a rig. Can you do something to stabalize it so it doesn't wiggle around long after Luke steps out?

It's highly doubtful that i'll be taking anything out of this release or trimming it (apart from greedo shooting first), but quite the opposite actually.

but surely it's worth leaving that shot in unfixed?

if something is riding on a repulsion field, then it is subject to movement based on weight etc. luke getting out of the speeder would make it bounce on its field as the weight changes and the internal projector adjusts to the new weight to maintain the ride height.

makes perfect sense to me.

Well I guess it makes sense, although it was the unfortunate by-product of the technology available.
(Notice how all the CGI speeders and ships with antigravity lifts in the other flims don't do that. That's my evidence.)

Even so, it will still always bother me.

It's still going to bounce as he gets out it just seems to bounce for too long after he gets out at the Lars homestead.

i really like the idea of it raining when luke discovers there bodies. Problem is finding sequences of rain against a dark plain background so i can overlay it.

In regards to needing a foreign 5.1 track, can I suggest you contact ADigitalMan. I think it was he who utilised the German mix to get rid of the "wesa free" cries at the end of the ROTJ 2004 DVD. I can't recall for certain whether the mix was 5.1 or not, but I think it was. The 2004 Holland DVDs also provide a 5.1 French mix, somebody on these boards might have them if you ask around.

Have you thought of maybe getting a demo of Digital Fusion to due some test fx? I know for sure you can do rain with their particle systems.

I was going to say the same thing until Tellan said it better.

I used to be very active on this forum. I’m not really anymore. Sometimes, people still want to get in touch with me about something, and that is great! If that describes you, please email me at [my username]ATgmailDOTcom.

Hi everybody. You’re all awesome. Keep up the good work.

I'm not sold about the rain idea. It seems too contrieved for my liking.

"Oh no, Luke is sad! Oh no, it is starting to rain."

On the other hand, it could increase the emotional impact of the scene

Agreed. And such contrivances tend to make me feel manipulated.

I love the idea of extra features with ideas for edits that are better left out of the film itself, to the editor's disgression.

Maybe when you're done with the DVD, you could post a few quick full-resolution mpeg clips for editors like myself to incorporate into our own edits? Although judging from what I've seen so far, there may be nothing to actually improve on your edit!

Or maybe *crosses fingers* you, tellan, DE and others could release a compilation DVD-ROM of your best work....
