Hey triffid,

Each to their own - it obviously depends what you're doing.

I use a combination of DVD2One, DVDRemakePro and DVDFab depending on the job - but never for compression. I avoid that at all costs !

There is positive rumblings on the "Director and his work" front, though I'll hold off posting full details until I'm 100% sure...

Hey Ash595,

Apologies for not getting back to you earlier - very busy over this weekend so haven't been around as much as I'd like !

Many thanks, indeed - I did get it safely - I'll send you an email in the next 24 hours.

Cheers,

I thought the Alien Appendix disc was awesome. Over here in Canada, the full documentary was only aired in it's full version a couple time on the local sci-fi network, so having this is absolutely great. I also liked your idea about an alternate cut of the first three films. It would be really interesting to see the subtle changes between each the different cuts of the three films.

I think he's actually trying to establish if it was ever finished being produced. I've never heard of it, but if it was finished let's hope we can track down a copy.

To contact me outside the forum, for trades and such my email address is my OT.com username @gmail.com

I looked through the entire topic, and I couldn't really find anything related to this, but if it's already been covered somewhere else or posted in it's entirety in another area, I can remove my post.

I was browsing through the Home Theater Forum website today, and I was looking at back posts for the Alien Quadrilogy topic. Of interest were four text articles/interview snippets that were posted by one of the members that cover aspects of Alien 3. Again, these may have been posted before, so forgive me if this is redundant.

The articles on there are:

"Mother From Another Planet" (from "The Insider's Guide To DVD")

This article was taken from the Insider's Guide To DVD book that was released in 2003. (Again, if someone is already posting this on one of the discs, and it's redundant, I'll remove this link), and examines the difficulty in shooting Alien 3. It was posted verbatim, save for one section regarding differences between all the script, but otherwise, the article's complete. It has interviews with David Fincher and Ezra Swerdlow.

Interviews with Richard Edlund (SFX Supervisor) on making of film, George Gibbs on the EEV Crash and Superfacehugger, Alec Gillis on the autopsy scene, and Fincher on what he wanted from the film

This piece is four different articles related to the production and editing of the film. I don't know if these are part of the Cinefex magazine articles, though.

Either way, you could always add them as text files for a nice little bonus to the third film. At least it's something.

Both Suntech and Bigrob are mentioning their laserdiscs. Are you able to compare the LDs with Alien Quadrilogy disc #9, guys? Did Lauzirika's team move all bonuses from the two collectors edition laserdiscs to the DVD set or did they leave something behind? Suntech is even suspicious that he found some unused footage already. I am waitng for a definitive answer about the LDs content for years and nobody can tell this for sure.
I recorded the Making of Alien3 on a DVD-R again, this time without the drops. I am also buying the Making of Alien Resurrection LD now, but I cannot copy it. Should I borrow the LD to Meedermow or Jonno?

The site looks the same for two years. Either they prepare a really BIG thing or they are promising something they cannot put together for some reason.

There are some things on my Laser disc that I do not see on any other format. Most of it is just presented differently.

Can you be more specific about this, Suntech? They never told us that the AQ disc 9 contains ALL the stuff from the laserdiscs. But they transfered the materials in a way which make us believe it is everything.

The Laserdisc is the Special Widescreen Collector's Edition. (CAV)
Exclusive Collector's Section including
Premiere Presentation of Out-Take footage.
Interview with Ridley Scott.
Behind-The Scene Footage.
H.R. Giger's Paintings and Drawings.
Conceptual art work.
Rare Production Photographs.
Screenplay Excerpts.
Annotated History of the film.
Theatrical Trailer and original Advertising Materials.

I do not have the remote to my laserdisc player so I can not step through all of it but what I have seen, to me looks as though that it is presented differently than that of the DVDs

This list of contents matches the "AQ Alien laserdisc archive" pretty well. No clue suggesting any difference.

I have the AQ discs and there is some difference in the presentation and I do not think all of the laserdisc stuff made it to the DVD.
Author

OK, can you simply play both the DVD and the LD at once to find the differences? I know, it means to spend at least one hour in front of your TV, maybe two.

Yeah, I was searching EBay a week back, and I bought an Alien: The Director's Cut press kit on a CD-ROM. Does anyone know if there's anything interview-wise or info-wise on there that hasn't been shown on the Alien Quadrilogy or already available in some sort of other form? I know it's out-of-print, so if someone wants, I could make a copy and send it out. I should be getting the disc sometime this week. I also got a scan of one of the press screening tickets from EBay. I don't know if this will help at all, but it's something.

The CD press kit is useless, I am sorry. It contains only some 15 hi-res photos and one low-res trailer in mov format, nothing else. If you do not own Alien Saga DVD, buy it. If you do not own Alien Legacy, you can buy the bonus 5th disc separately. Look for keywords 'alien, promo, dvd' - currently 2 pcs for sale there. UK region 2 release in standard plastic case, blue-green cover.

Well, that's okay. I'm a completist. It only cost me $4.00 anyway, so it's not like I'm missing out on much.

I understand. I have it too for the same reason.
