As for the Song Of The South, I agree - the Japanese laserdisc has the best video quality. However, there are Japanese subtitles hard-coded during the singing scenes.
I have the two versions of the DVD (one with Martins and Coys Easter egg, other with Coal Black Easter egg) and they are from the Hong Kong laserdisc. Softer picture, but no subtitles. It's similar to a bad VHS copy. But it's all that's currently available as Disney decided not to release it again. There is an extensive thread on this in this sub-forum.
Personally, the cartoon sequences are the best part...... the rest of the movie is rather droll.
I'm looking forward to what Rowman can create from those sources!!

Looks like the laserdiscs aren't worth much on Ebay anymore. Too bad, it was a great format.

The rare ones I have is the Tom and Jerry Cut Laserdisc sets that came out in the 90's! Great Stuff
In it, not of it.

hang on to tom and jerry. apparently, they are in the process of editing these priceless pieces of history by editing out scenes where the characters smoke as 'youth of today may be influenced by it'

not b ad considering I've haven't seen a tom and jerry cartoon get aired for years because they are considered too violent anyway. sheesh

The Italian three DVD release of Wim Wenders "Until The End of The World."

People understandably are put off by the "reader's digest" cut that was released in the USA.  4.5 hours of Wenders goodness.  I believe it has content not on the later German release (deleted scenes come to mind).

Now I've got it. The rarest video in my collection is a mini fanedit I made: I cut out the dream sequence from th emovie Grand Canyon. Nothing else. But it improves the movie a lot for me. I think no one else has this.

But but but but....my mind boggles.

I do a lot of fanedit stuff myself, too, some along these lines.  Mostly I  put deleted scenes back in movies and tweak tv shows.  I've done all of The Walking Dead to fix various issues and am working on a LOST with no flashbacks and in chronological order, almost done with season 3.

The closest that I did to this was adding the beginning of Terrance Malnick's Tree of Life to Prometheus.  I had to cut all the voice overs so basically we now get the creation of the universe and planets, then the engineers arrive, then you get dinosaurs and a comet comes and wipes them out.  Cut to the TED talk by Wayland about all the things that technology will do for people if you join him on the ride...

Nine-year-old posts will do that to you.
