I never, for one second, thought that Lucas had the entire saga written from the beginning. As far as I will believe, he had the rough outline, no specifics. Luke and Leia were the kids of Anakin Skywalker and Anakin fell to the dark side in the times of the Old Republic and Obi-Wan trained him.

That's all I'll ever believe he had written about the PT.
