My thoughts on DVD-ROM content: Well, the radio shows and podcasts could be DVD-ROM material, as well as possibly the score as bigrob has offered. However, any TV specials should probably go on another disc. I think 3 have been mentioned in this thread so far.

crazyrabbits is right y'know, if we're going to have the movie with commentary tracks, we might as well put the score on the disc in the form of an isolated score track. That reminds me... I have to get my Ghostbusters one finished. :/

And finally, on the topic of creating the Dawn of the Dead: Ultimate Cut... this would be extensive, however, if this were to be done, then this set would become very much a wanted piece on the torrent sites by all DOTD fans.

Savini.com has a image in his picture of the Machete in Head Zombie.

Oh and I found MORE DVD-Rom materials!

klokwerk,I edited my post about Dawn Composite as it would be a pain,as I can't find the site anymore that had the info on what was different. And even if I did,I'm not sure meeder would want to do it. It would take alot of work.

This is a very interesting project. I looked around to see if I could find any material you could use, and I had a couple suggestions, but if it would be too big for the disc, that's okay. I found a BBC special on Mininova called "Forbidden: George Romero and the Dawn Of The Dead". I'm not exactly sure whether it reiterates most of the points already covered in the other documentaries, or if I can even get it (no seeders), but I will try to find out.

Another thing that might be useful (and I'm not sure if it was already included on the previous DVD release) is the original treatment Romero did for the film, which was something like 4 hours worth of scenes in a 300+ page script. It's readily available on the net (like here for example) and would be useful for completists who want to know everything about Romero's original vision.

I found a couple of text interviews with Scott Reiniger and Romero here (it's under the "Interviews" section). The webmaster of that site also seems to know about the beginning narration of the Japanese version (the cut that freezes out violent parts), so I will e-mail him asking whether he can send me a copy of the cut or if he can provide me with the beginning narration. Since this cut wasn't even screened in the U.S. (at least, I don't believe so), it would be a seriously collectible item, and whatever info I can dig up on it, it would be of interest to fans.

I will compile everything I can find for a DVD_ROM section.

Crazyrabbits - bizarrely when I was transferring a load of VHS to DVD recently I stumbled across a Cronenberg special that I videoed off the telly years ago - I had left the video running overnight and lo and behold the "Forbidden" Romero interview followed it - so I have a DVD of that already that I had totally forgotten about !

So that will make it onto one of the discs in one way, shape or form

Composite edit...

Hmmmmmmmm, will have to think about it - the whole life vs edits is beginning to get skewed in favour of the latter already !

It might still happen, you never know. Still, I'm just saying it would be downloaded many times upon release.

Anyway, the other reason for this post is that I couldn't find the image on savini.com that you mentioned. I think it is the one I've utilised below. Note: It is just a placeholder. I still need to find it in high-res:

Correct me if I am wrong. But I thought I remember reading that the 3 versions in the box set don't have every last extra bit. some of the German releases or something have a few extra tidbits.

Okay, I have a DVD that features both the UK commentary and the Elite commentary on the same audio track (one left speaker, the other right). A fresh conversion from DVD/Laserdisc would probably be an improvement but if that falls through, I'd be happy to contribute this. I got it in a trade so I can't give or take credit for it.

I also have the UK MARTIN DVD with the German DAWN thing (which actually runs for 23 minutes PAL) and the downloaded VHS->DivX of the Incredibly Strange Film Show episode (38 min PAL).

I also have a DVD conversion of the Tom Savini Scream Greats laserdisc that I made myself but that might be pushing the limits of a DAWN-orientated set (just a few shots borrowed from Document of the Dead). I may spruce it up with menus some day and pass it on as its own thing as its alotta fun.

There's a million articles on DAWN out there but one that might be of particular interest is the Tom Savini story from Fangoria #1. I'd be happy to scan it if there's any interest.

Apparently the German trailer features footage not found in ANY version out there. Just a few shots, however. As for a composite version incorporating ALL known footage, I recommend contacting the Mall of the Dead webmaster. He apparently started work on this project sometime ago. I'm unsure how far he has gotten but even if he has abandoned it, he may have some valuable advice for anyone else willing to take the challenge.

You might also wanna post a recruitment drive at the Homepage of the Dead forums for material. Alotta hardcore Romero nerds hang out there and I bet that, combined, they've probably got everything there is to have on DAWN (including, as I understand it, the 'needle drop' library music cues not available on any soundtrack release).

Have you made your choice regarding the Ultimate"Composite"Cut? Assuming we can't find it.

And can someone list all we have officialy to go towards the project,so I don't list duplcates. I'm still looking and thats why I'm to busy to do it. I'm looking for materials for this project and the Bruce Campbell Project.
