Great work. This should be the default ending of ANY Episode One edit. Good job!

You know I went through track 15 a bit, and decided to use the ending straight from ROTS for this one--the music with Luke being taken to Tatooine and them staring off into the sunset, the transition was easy and the "A New Hope" theme worked for me like it was a "First Hope" theme or something. Thanks for the tip, I got lazy with it but it works real well.

Slumberland, since we're talking about your project anyway (), I actually noticed that your iris out seems to match the actual iris out, while mine is way too thin, and Premiere just won't make it wider without wanting a "border" in the middle. Do you wanna help me out maybe? It'd be easy: Just take this shot
http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g40/DledRhapsody/FuneralEndShot.jpg
then reverse it so it's zooming out, then put on a good iris out for me and post it?

Okay, so my ending, lol. Actually me and Slumberland are on similar wavelengths here, but whereas he took the time to build a new score to go into the credits, I just stole it from ROTS. I also have no talking--a couple of friends at a test screening thought that sucked. I might put in the sound of fire like he did, but I'm not sure. I also end on a different shot, zooming out from all the people standing there. I thought it had more of a Star Wars ending feel, ending on Palpatine seems just too quick in all the stuff I've seen posted, but is kinda creepy cool that he's the last thing we see so I made sure that's the end shot right before the iconic Star Wars "group pic" ending shot.

I burned a test DVD that was absolutely awful, but that'll be fixed when I get a new burner. The DVD menu is the absolute greatest thing ever created by human hands, I won't post it because it requires no critique or review, it simply is perfect and I want to save it for everybody's first viewing of the DVD.

I'll see what I can do with zooming out on that shot and giving it a proper iris... I may have to run it through after effects to reverse the zoom. I totally get what you mean about that being a more "star wars-y" ending shot than the four characters in a row... I seem to remember thinking the long shot was a bit too short for me to use in that fashion, but maybe not. I also love the four of them in a line like that. All the major players going forward, with the eventual victor of the trilogy right there in front.

I'd be interested to see how your ending is coming along, even in its unfinished state. Please post!

Glad I could help. Maybe you could drop some suggestions at my Ep. 3 thread once I get editing on it again. Cheers!

Yeah, Premiere's standard transitions are horrible, at least in Pro 1.5. Don't know if 2.0 is any better. I'm planning on using After Effects to match the actual SW transitions as close as possible for my edit.

I just did another test encode and I'm drained. I think I'll quit with making any more cuts, I just need to slice off the "meeting" scene with Padme and Anakin and I'll let it end.

Okay, differences here from Slumberland's, no talking--by anybody--the rule of two is kinda unnecessary and I'm not sure why they're talking when it should have a bit more of a reverent feel to it. The original soundtrack is also a little too present for my hear so that's why nobody's talking. The ending shot is a group pic. The only thing I'm uncomfortable with is the fact the final music cue is taken unaltered from another film and maybe that's lame of me--seeing as the final music cue to RotS felt sort of contrived anyway, also by not including fire soundfx it might be a tad "too reverent." As always please forgive my free codecs

Actually I got some damn good ideas for that one.

Hey, PaulisDead- have you checked out this search engine? Find Sounds. Maybe there's some usable fire FX in there.

Excellent (not the video quality). I've always wanted that scene to be dialogue-free.

Slumberland and PaulisDead2221, you both have PMs...from me!

Possibly from others as well - who knows? But certainly from me!

That's a cool search engine--what are some of the sources?--the quality's a tad under par for the search results for "fire" and stuff, but that's pretty cool cause I need a place like that. And I got your PM miasta, I looked over your list and I'm still deciding cause there's a lot of kickass stuff there, I would have responded sooner but a fucking pox betook my computer.

So my master drive crapped out on me. All my project files and everything important I keep on my slave drive so that's okay, but unfortunately my avisynth set up and a lot of other configurations important to the project are gone. I'm not sure what exactly I can do to save the project, but it'll be tentative reinstalling from here on for awhile. This sucks cause I was all done--I even did a redo of the THX logo with some added phat audio mixing. Anyway I think there's hope, but I'm trying to figure it out.

Cool. Maybe you can share some later.

I hope you get your project back up and running; it would be a shame to lose such a promising edit. I haven't had hardware failure on my edit, but I have had multiple software failures. I've worked around them, though, and the edit goes on.

Wow--project is absolutely fine. I was scared for awhile. I will be adding a short tribute to Darth Editous on the DVD for saving the project.

I am working off of a 1 GB master drive that is very old and therefore very slow, so I will still have to wait for a new one come about September 14th, but the project is right back where it was: 99.99% done. The only new problem might be reinstalling premiere because I'm not sure about how registration will work if I'm installing it twice.

Just browsing through this thread, and it looks like you might have a very cool edit on your hands here. A thought for the Jedi entering the hangar sequence you posted; rip the music channels off the RotS disc for the begining of the Battle of Coruscant - there's your drumroll for the buildup to the action sequence. It's simple, it's JW, it ties nicely with RotS and the Jedi about to open a can o' whoop ass on some droids, and builds tension nicely from virtually nothing. There are mp3s of it floating around, but it probably would make more sense to rip it to a wav for best quality.

Might be a bit slow I think--I had to find something that would blend with the running orchestra already there, the thing I have uses a little high pitched sting from the woodwinds and it goes pretty good--no matter what the cut is really tough though cause he's slicing at the thing from a standing position when it's supposed to look like he's walking right through it.

Slumberland, don't worry about that shot I forced you to do, the darkness of the credits and the final scene cover the transition just fine and I felt bad for kinda obligating you, but if u want I know I'll need help with Episode II cause I have to pick a different shot without C3PO as the final shot.

COUPLE OF NEW CHANGES:
1 - Added Sebulba's engine sound to some more shots where he's overtaking Anakin making for a much more exciting final stretch, I got the idea from George talking about it on the "making of the podrace," but for some reason it I guess the Mr. Burtt wasn't listening to him.
2 - Jar Jar and Padme's meeting
3 - Droids don't have ranks or make many orders
4 - Cut out Anakin and Padme's scene alltogether, they get to know each other just fine later
5 - Let's see what I can remember...I cut out some of the "hey kids listen to your mother cause Darth Vader does" stuff.
6 - Cut out Kixter or whoever his little friend is--I have nothing against him, but the scenes he was involved in just kept sucking and getting cut, so he kinda disappeard.
7 - Cut out "Duel the Fates" from the end credits, seriously if i hear that one more damn time...
Arrgh there's a bunch more I can't remember--but it's going much more smoothly

NEW FINALIZING LIST:
1 - Crawl--my go-to guy isn't really helping me out, I should ask somebody around here, he's more into the "supplemental" material than doing anything productive.

Wow--that's it--I even have the DVD menus set and ready to go--all is needed is the crawl! I know Rebel1138 is a good go-to guy--Darth Editious too right? Anybody else?

Try Sony Vegas. I'm using this to replace wipes in my edit of EP IV and you can customise all transitions to recreate all the wipes in the Star Wars movies.

I would also advise you to use Vegas also. It allows you to create authentic looking wipes with unbelievable ease.

I thought people forgot all about it

Both good news and lame news. Just got the most amazing computer--

Core 2 Duo
Gigabyte of ram
Rocking motherboard: MSI JP34...Sex Machine...I don't know
new 250 GB hard drive (old 120 GB and 250 GB hard drives intact thank god and usable in new computer)
Good Graphics card...can't remember brand.
5.1 Sound Card
My old dual layer burner
My old single layer burner
Floppy drive ( no way, you're kidding?)

Okay, the thing won't start up! A little LED indicator tool tells us there's an issue with the "Initialize IDE controller--This will initialize blah blah" Anyway we're waiting for replies at some computer forums. But if I remember, this damn edit is like 100% done I know it--just need to encode it for realsies. Also the crawl looks wonderful and I got together the 5.1 mix and PCM audio.

Episode III I am practically done with too--new title "Rise of the Empire." It's basically a bunch of very good looking sequences on my timeline that I need to figure out how to put together into one film.

Thanks for remembering
