Just out of curiosity, which version of Candle in the Wind?

I've listened to the latter more because I have the single.

My favourite Elton John songs are Daniel (my brother is named after that song) Tiny Dancer, and I'm still standing (which was written by Elton's lyricist Bernie Taupin as a gift to Elton after he beat drug addiction and made a comeback - listen to the lyrics). If you ever get knocked down or defeated somehow, listen to I'm still standing. I also really dig the guitar solo on that song: it's simple, but works really well.

EDIT: After I made this post I put on an Elton John record. Call me what you will, but I am an Elton John fan (well, the music at least - the current incarnation of the man himself seems like a bit of a wanker). One of the things I like about Elton John is that even though somebody else writes most of his lyrics, it's Elton John that pus music to them, and that is arguably what makes the songs (incidently the songs he wrote by himself and not with Bernie Taupin's lyrics are not as good).

EDIT 2: Rocket Man is another favourite.

My personal favorite Elton song is "Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting", and pretty much any song off "The Tumbleweed Connection."

Although, in my opinion, this is quite possibly the greatest album of all time:

Oh Hell Yes!!

Although my favourite Beatles Album is teh White Album. If they had been a little more picky about the track listing they could have made one hell of a single album instead of a good double album with some filler.

I personally love the whole first disc. (Of the CD)

Forgive my lack of Beatles knowledge, but does anybody know which album contains "Hey Jude"?

It really only came out as a single but there was a Hey Jude album which had only Beatles singles and B-sides. You can't get that anymore

It's not on any album (unless you count compilations). It was only a single.

OK, I'm listening to the White Album as we speak:

So far I've heard 4 tracks:

1. Back in the USSR - great
2. Dear Prudence - perfect
3. Glass Onion - weird but I love it
4. ObLaDi ObLaDa - don't like it, one of the worst Beatles songs ever. In fact I'm gonna skip it now....

Track 5, Honey Pie: Again, weird, but I dig it.

Don't like ObLaDi, eh? Hmm, I've always liked that one, personally. Got a nice bounce to it. But I definitely agree with you on the rest.

I think I will as well.
A favorite is hard to choose with this album but i'm currently listening to Blackbird.

I've never really listened to The Beatles much, maybe that'll be my next thing that I immerse myself into. I find that once I find someone I like to listen to, I tend to listen to JUST that and not much else.

Sure, it helps you REALLY delve and know all that you possibly can about that particular group or whatever, but it is VERY time consuming.

It's definitely worth it, Sess. I never really listened to much Beatles until about a week ago, when I went on a downloading spree, and now I'm a Beatles NUT.

Seriously, all it took was Sgt. Pepper's and I got hooked.

So am I at this very moment! Great song. McCartney can be amazing at times (but weak at others, I feel).

Before Blackbird there was:

6. Bungalow Bill - not a favorite of mine but not one to skip either
7. While my guitar gently weeps - fucking fantastic. And Eric Clapton on guitar! Can't beat it.
8. Happiness is a warm gun - one of my personal faves
9. Martha my dear - don't really have an opinion on this one
10. I'm so tired - love it

Yeah, the White Album has some kickass stuff. However, I'm a fan of Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da. I love it. I love pretty much all of Paul's work on The Beatles.

And Nanner Split, the easiest way to get a CD that has Hey, Jude on it is to get Beatles 1. It's very much commercially available, and it's a great CD. I'm a little ashamed to say it was my introduction to The Beatles, but it has a ton of great stuff (twice as much as a real Beatles album), in fact, some of their best stuff.

It was my introduction too!!!!!!!!! But I don't belive you can put all their best stuff on one CD some stuff like Revolution, Octopuses Garden, Etc you don't get on there.

Well, of course. First of all, "their best songs" is subjective, so that would be impossible anyway. It was following its own premise, which was their number one singles on a CD. And there were simply a lot of great songs that didn't happen to be released as singles or were B-sides or just got beaten out by something else.
