I disagree, there is no other reason not to make the announcement of your promotion in the Announcements section other then to keep it quiet. Can you think of another reason? I can't. See, I wish you wouldn't think like that. It makes you sound like you have something against Jay. Like you said, Jay is human and probably just forgot. If the preservation forum was a place you rarely visited, why would it matter so much that a mod was elected with powers only in that forum?

You were the one the complained about how bad things are on that section and critized the Mangler Bros for not cleaing up as if it were their job. If you don't have time, energy and/or will to clean up that section, then don't critize unoffical mods for not cleaning either. Maybe the unoffical mods don't have the time, energy, or will to clean it up either. Does that make them any less worthy than you to be a mod? If your in a glass house, don't throw stones. I really hate the internet sometimes. To you, my post comes off as if I'm blaming you guys for not doing something about it, but in reality I was only pointing out that you guys didn't frequent that forum either, and that nobody has complained about it to the mods. Sheesh.

If a very prominent and respected part of the community has demonstated that he has will and ability to be mod, he should atleast be considered and if not made mod, he given an honest reason. Just because Jay thinks that someone does not deserve to be a mod doesn't mean that they don't deserve to be mod. Jay is human and can make mistakes.
If you own a web site, you decide who is promoted and who isn't. It's nobody else's decision but yours.

Did they atkeast give you and explanation as to why not? Did they tell you reason was they did want mods at all then go and appoint someone else a mod? You're going to tell me you didn't in any way feel slighted? If so, I am happy for you. But still don't blame Dayv he did feel slighted.
The rule on TFN about asking to be a mod is to not ask at all. That kind of vibe sort of keeps you from demanding a reason why you weren't selected. Did I feel slighted? Maybe at first, but I also understood that it was their decision to appoint someone they felt comfortable with to help run their site.
