They've always denied that the Wampa scene had anything to do with MH's real-life injuries. Supposedly the scene would have been in there regardless.
Also, MH definitely had more than a broken nose. His upper lip was injured- and he still has visible scars above it, and his front teeth were broken (he met his future wife at the dentist's office where he was having reconstructive dental-work).
