Anyone here by chance want to do a preservation of The Compleat Al? It was a mockumentary about Weird Al. I actually have a laserdisc release of it, but I don’t have a laserdisc player, so if I can find someone whose well known and respected here and could convert my laserdisc to DVD, that would be great!

I would like to see this. I actually looked for a copy on the ebay the other day, but it was all out of my range. It would be great to get old episodes of AL-TV preserved as well.

I have a laserdisc transfer DVD of this. Email me and we can set something up.

I used to be very active on this forum. I’m not really anymore. Sometimes, people still want to get in touch with me about something, and that is great! If that describes you, please email me at [my username]ATgmailDOTcom.

Hi everybody. You’re all awesome. Keep up the good work.

The copyright warning at the beginning still cracks me up! You can actually spot an 80's vintage Laserdisc player in the background of one scene.
Sadly, my disc has rot even my old gas-tube monster won't read through.

Where were you in '77?

I have a Laserdisc Player and would be willing to do the conversion. I also have some vintage Al TV on VHS from MTV as well as The Complete Al from the broadcast on MTV.

I wanted to ask about Al preservation a little while back. This is awesome! I'd love to see The Compleat Al on DVD.

I was wondering if I could present some info and ask for a favor; AL-TV #1 (2 DVD-Rs), AL-TV #7 (1 DVD-R), Weird Al Behind the Music & Driven (1 DVD-R) are on Demonoid at the moment. If any of you guys manage to get these I am definitely willing to do what I have to in order to get copies from you. I wish I didn't have a crappy 12GB limit each month! I also wish I'd mentioned this sooner as it seems like the seeds are dying off now. However the 3 above torrents are well worth getting. Please somebody grab them (AL-TV #1 even includes vintage commercials).

A few months ago I would've suggested the Weird Al Show too, but that's coming to DVD and I'll be happy to pick it up. I can't believe it's being released here in Australia when they didn't even bother giving us the movie; UHF.

I have a VHS tape of an AL-TV from 1992 when his Off the Deep End album came out. If anyone would be interested in preserving this, let me know and I'll start digging through the digging through the archives.

Did this ever get off the ground? My son is an absolute "Weird Al" fanatic. Would be great to get this.

I'm sending a copy to Joltman in about a week. After that, please spread the disc around.

Well count me as someone wanting to get that disc!

I took the plunge and I'm downloading ALTV #7 at the moment. I'm so glad it's still seeded. Hopefully somebody on here can grab the VH1 specials disc and ALTV #1? Lots of Weird Al stuff. It's great.

Yeah, I'm a huge fan of Al as well and would love to get The Compleat Al on DVD. If this can be torrented, that would be awsome.

I have one of the Al-TVs (the recent one with Eminem) recorded onto DVD-R from the original broadcast, and I have an LD player. If I could help in any way, let me know.

Elmo Oxygen, I have that AL-TV special in Divx - I'd love to get a DVD-R version. Are you open to trade with an Australian and do you havge your PMs on?

By the way: greyarea, I never got a reply to my recent email or PM (can't remember which), you still around?

Yep, I'm still here. I never got your email or PM. Strange. Try me again.

[edit -- it seems I didn't have PM's turned on. That's now fixed. Please try again.]

As a sidenote; greyarea, I'll get in touch with you about all that Weird Al stuff once NYE is over and done with.

Just bumping this a bit, for many reasons.

Can someone PM me about getting any or all of these discs? (some of the torrents seem to be dead now) Apparently, ReverendBeastly's copy is out there now, too, and that's the one I'm most interested in.

Also, in case you guys didn't know, Al also did specials called Al Music for the MuchMusic station in Toronto. They were the same format as Al TV, but used MuchMusic interviews. And those are always the best part. I have Al Music 3 and would be willing to send it to someone that could do a nice restoration job with it. The tape isn't getting any younger and I can't convert it to digital myself...

Also, does anyone have the old 1996 TV special "(There's No) Going Home?" (http://imdb.com/title/tt0166065/) That was awesome! Haven't seen it in a long time.

I would also love to see this -- I remember finding out about it recently, and being sad that it was out of print.

Take care,

If you have a first-run printing of his CD Running With Scissors the CD is an Enhanced CD with "(There's No) Going Home" as the feature.

Yeah, but only about 9 minutes of it, and it's an hour long special.
