Star Wars DVD Covers — Page 116

Do any of you remember the promo booklet they gave at the theaters during the premier of Episode I? I found my copy today and thought it would make an interesting design for a cover. What do you think?

I'm in the very early stages and if anyone knows how I can duplicate that metalic logo on the posters could you give me some pointers? It's almost exactly lke the front, although I might endup adding borders around the boxes to avoid having the background text blending in.

Rather appropriate since it is a cover for the Special Edition DVD set (plus bonus discs).

Ha ha! Whoops! I really should take my own advice and read the thread! As soon as I saw Moth3r mentioned I obviously got confused!

Hey, what program do you use to make these cool preview images?
I wish I had a Kryptonite cross, because then you could keep both Dracula AND Superman away.

Galatians 2: 20: I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Coov I know you usually don't do this, but could you make a matching PT set, please!! I love the color blue and would love to have a matching set for the PT.

Yea, make the IV on the spine taller

I'd avoid gold in the spine all together. Maybe a silver would look better on the greenish background.

Casualimp,

I don't think you should use the same alien font on the back of all 6 dvd covers. It's a Naboo font, so it really only belongs on Episode I.

I recommend you use a font associated with each movie. If you want, I'd be happy to make some recommendations

You know of the rebellion against the Empire?

Thanks guys, I'll see what I can come up with.

Erik: Now that I know it's a Naboo font, what would you suggest? I was just going for duplication here, but I'm up for modifying it.

I suggest:

Episode I - Naboo (the one you're already using)
Episode II - Mandalorian
Episode III - Mustafarian (I'm currently working on this one)
Episode IV - This is a hard one. No alien fonts were used, except for the markings on the TIE helmets. Maybe Aurebesh since it was used for the tractor beam label in the DVD version.
Episode V - The font used on the "Wampa room" door (I'm working on this one too)
Episode VI - Galactic Basic

Yes, many of these fonts are mine. I confess I'm partial to my own work

Those are yours? Damn good job you're doing. Do you have a site up that I might d/l them from?

Here's an edit. I found a template for the retail covers and used some of that. It was for Episode III so I'll wing if after.

Take off the FBI warning, R1, NTSC and "PG-13" - those are all USA specific. If you go to http://cdcovers.cc you can see what the layout looks like in different countries, I know I'm not a cover artist myself - but personally, I would have to edit (poorly) covers that have FBI, R1, NTSC or PG-13 on them so they're NZ-friendly. I wouldn't use the interactual player logo either - because if someone's going to keep a DVD-R copy in your covers (laserdisc or of the official dvd) - that'll be the first thing to go! Where did you find the retail template btw?

@ Casualimp:

Personally, I think you could be on to some neat looking covers.

What I would do is this:

1) Keep the film titles to the spine. Remove the titles on the front. The posters are iconic enough to identify which film it is.
2) Frame the front posters somehow. Maybe a neutral colour for the series, or a colour to identify each film.

You're on to something though.

Okay the only reason to buy the DVDs is for these covers. Will we see a high quality download soon?
