I say get him for allowing the idiot Hotrod(the autobot, not the forum member) to steal leadership of the Autobots away from Ultra Magnus! He interfers with Prime's fight with Megatron, as a result, Prime gets killed. And then what happens? He is rewarded with the leadership of the Autobots.

Who's the stupid bastard? HotRod, or Ron Friedman (the writer)? Ron said he didn't have a choice as far as Optimus Prime's death, the higher-ups more or less made him. And just for the record, Ron is one of the coolest people I've ever met in my life. Ever.

Prime getting killed wasn't Hotrod's fault. Hotrod was trying to warn prime.

And seeing as the writer was told he had to kill Prime, I think he done an awesome job of writing that scene. 'One shall stand, one shall fall' - fucking great stuff. And the music... YOU GOT THE TOUCH!!

And speaking of Hotrod the forum member , where the hell is he?

Hotrod got in Prime's line of fire. He distracted Prime. Megatron was able to use Hotrod as shield and grab that gun and blow Prime away. Hotrod should have heeded the advise of the old a wiser Autobot(I think his name was Cup) who told him "stay out of it, that's Prime's fight". If he had stayed out of it, Prime might have survived.

And if Hotrod is not responsible then how come after the fight as Prime is dying, he asks Prime to forgive him? hmmmm?

He had to kill Prime. But, did he have to make the next leader responsible?

He could have written the scene exactly same except have Hotrod or another Autobot get wounded so he is immobilized. Megatron see's the immobilized Hotrod and uses him as shield and blows away Prime. Prime's death would be just as powerful, but the next leader would not come off looking like such an a**.

Yes, something in disguise, perhaps.

Can somebody fill me in on some info from the show? I remember in the movie, that Prime 'dies'. But then I remember a few seasons down the road he reappears. He gets salvaged from a space ship (?) and there's a virus or something, but ultimately Prime becomes the leader again. So what was the general plotline around these events?

Man did not make the Transformers. They are from the planet Cybertron. And on their home planet they look different: They took on the form of earth vehicles to blend in when they crashed here.

I never watched the post-movie stuff, but I think the general plotline was 'introduce more toys'. Even the original series was little more than a toy commercial.

Well robots made humans didn't they? (or was it the other way around?)

In the Transformers universe, neither made the other. They both evolved seperately on seperate planets. Transformers are not just robots. They are actually alive - Hence they can die.

yeah i dont know how the transformers came around. i remember i was a huge fan of beasties, and then beast wars (thats when they went back to cybertron) both were great shows and it was so neat seeing the end, when cybertron becomes organic, and the transformers themselves become halve organic and half robot.

That Transformer looked like the Iron Giant.

So I hear that Peter Cullen is back as the voice of Optimus Prime. Who else has heard of this?
I'd like a qui-gon jinn please with an Obi-Wan to go.

Transformer Bots Revealed

Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, writers of the upcoming Transformers movie, revealed the list of robot characters that will appear in the big-budget adaptation of the 1980s comic, toy and animated franchise, topped by the Autobot leader Optimus Prime and the Decepticon leader Megatron, in a live video Q&A on Yahoo! on Aug. 18.

On the Autobot side the movie will feature Bumblebee, Jazz, Ratchet and Ironhide. On the Decepticon side, the film will include Starscream, Brawl, Bonecrusher, Barricade, Scorponok, Frenzy and Blackout.

The writers also asked fans to submit a key line of dialogue for Optimus Prime on the official Web site, which will be included in the film, apparently taking a page from the publicity campaign for Snakes on a Plane, which also incorporated a fan-suggested bit of dialogue.

The writers said that the movie will rely heavily on characters from the generation one chapter of the long-lived franchise, centering on the war between the benevolent Autobots and the nefarious Decepticons—a war that plays out on Earth in 2006. Michael Bay is directing Transformers, which is currently in production with an eye to a July 4, 2007, release.

What do you have against Peter Cullen? He is the voice of Optimus Prime. I could imagine no one else doing it.
